Welder Job Description:

The welder will be responsible for set up, operation and maintenance of welding and other shop equipment to build products that meet or exceed Erdman Automation’s quality standards, while doing so in a safe and efficient manner. Strong communication and interaction skills are needed. Troubleshooting and critical thinking skills are necessary to develop solutions to problems that arise in the fabrication process. Organizational skills are necessary to ensure work is done correctly, on time, and properly documented.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

· Proven experience as a welder/fabricator. Education in the field is preferred, but not required.

· Knowledge and understanding of the welding and fabrication process.

· Knowledge of manual welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Oxy/Acetylene), welding machines, shielding gases, wires, etc.

· Able to accurately use measuring tools (tape measure, squares, levels, angle finders, calipers, etc.)

· Math skills required. Shop math, fractions, decimals, geometry, addition, subtraction, etc.

· Proficient in English, able to positively and effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors and others;

- Skills needed: verbal, oral, written (able to document work).

· Able to receive and follow instructions from co-workers, supervisor and other employees.

· Able to work independently or as part of a team, with or without supervision, to complete weldments to company standards and meet deadlines.

· Physical ability to stand for duration of entire shift.

· Physical ability to lift, pull, push, carry heavy items (up to 75 lbs.).

· Ability to climb and work from a ladder.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

· Experience with shop tools – angle grinders, die grinders, plasma cutters, drills, mills, hand tools.

· Ability to become forklift certified, use in a safe and appropriate manner.

· Must be able to adhere to shop safety policies, OSHA regulations and use proper PPE.

· Report any workplace hazards to Safety Director and Maintenance Department.

· Able to set up, operate and perform regular scheduled maintenance of welding machines.

· Able to troubleshoot any potential issues with welding machines.

· Maintain equipment and tools to a professional standard. Ability to keep a clean and orderly work station.

· Able to read, interpret and understand blueprints, drawings (2D & 3D diagrams), sketches and other technical documents.

· Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve potential issues with blueprints and the fabrication process.

· Plan layouts, procedures, weld sequencing and fabrication process with minimal distortion.

· Inspect materials before welding, final inspection of completed weldments ensuring the highest

standard of work, all weldments must meet or exceed department quality control standards.

· Grind, de-burr and cosmetically finish all weldments so they can be completed by paint dept.

· Any other duties as deemed necessary and/or requested by supervisor or operations manager.

Pay: $19.00 - $29.00 per hour
