Junior Estimator Job Description:
As a Junior Estimator, you will analyze project documents, calculate material and labor costs for specialty finishes, maintain vendor relationships, and prepare detailed bids under mentor supervision. You will be involved in quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, bid preparation, procurement support, and value engineering activities that save money without compromising quality. This role requires a high degree of attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and clear communication to support senior estimators and contribute to the company's bidding process. A strong appetite for digital work environment and embracing advanced technological platforms for process improvement a must.

Junior Estimator Key responsibilities
- Learn to analyze project scope: Study blueprints, specifications, and other documents to understand project requirements, with a focus on specialty finishes.
- Assist with cost calculations: Learn to compute and prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, and other factors that influence project pricing.
- Develop vendor relationships: Help manage relationships with vendors and contractors, and learn to use bid data to prepare cost analyses.
- Support bidding process: Assist in preparing and submitting bids for new contracts and work orders.
- Maintain cost database: Learn to enter and maintain cost data in the company's system.
- Communicate with management: Present prepared estimates and report on project costs to senior management.
- Gain technical knowledge: Continuously update knowledge of specialty finishes, estimating software, and industry trends through training and educational workshops.
Junior Estimator Qualifications and skills
- Education: High school diploma or GED is required; a bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience: Prior experience in estimation or a related field is helpful but not required, since this position provides direct mentorship and training.
- Technical skills: Proficiency with estimating software, digital platforms, and the full Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Analytical skills: Strong ability to analyze information, pay close attention to detail, and solve discrepancies. Excellent time management and strong mathematical aptitude.
- Soft skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, good time management, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
