Legal Process Server

Job Summary

Duties

• Effectively locate and serve legal documents such as subpoenas, summonses, complaints, and other court papers to individuals or entities involved in legal proceedings
• Follow strict protocols to ensure proper service according to jurisdictional requirements
• Maintain detailed records of all served documents, including dates, times, locations, and recipient details
• Manage workflow with assistance from the main office in Missoula, MT.
• Use company provided transportation and tools of the trade to deliver documents across designated areas efficiently
• Communicate professionally with main office staff and occasionally clients and court personnel regarding service status or issues encountered during delivery
• Conduct follow-up visits if initial service attempts are unsuccessful to ensure completion of process

Skills

• Proven experience as a courier or in a role requiring reliable transportation and punctuality
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deliveries and maintain accurate filing records
• Excellent communication skills for interacting professionally with diverse individuals and teams
• Knowledge of legal procedures related to document serving and filing processes is a plus
• Ability to navigate local areas efficiently using maps or GPS technology
• Detail-oriented mindset with high accuracy in record keeping and reporting
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record preferred
• Must have or be able to obtain a MT process server registration. Pursuant to MCA 25-1-1102, must meet requirements: a US citizen, a Montana resident for at least one year immediately preceding making application, and no felony convictions. The Process Server application requires a FBI and Montana Department of Justice criminal fingerprint background check. Company assists applicant to complete the application and pays all the fees required.
