Job Description – Field Service Technician
Classification: Hourly
Reports to: Service Manager- High Plains Apache Fargo, ND

Summary: Our Field Service Technicians will perform inspections, repairs and maintenance on Apache Sprayers and other related application equipment remotely at customer’s sites.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Perform inspections, repairs and maintenance on agricultural equipment at remote locations according to the companies scheduling system.
2. Assist the inbound phone support staff and supervisors relating to work prioritization, scheduling and dispatch.
3. Assist sales personnel with product demonstrations, customer training, startup services and more.
4. Learn precision ag systems and components such that customers rely on you as a valuable resource in their proper use.
5. Accurately maintain inventory by following company procedures for parts receiving, inventory relief, return of goods, and inventory movement tracking.
6. Accurately record labor, miles, parts used, sublet items, etc. so that the company may accurately record warranty expenses, expenses related to whole goods and customer charged services.
7. Ensure the maintenance, cleanliness and upkeep of company owned and leased assets and facilities.
8. Keep current with all company produced documents, connect with vendor and industry related sources to stay up to date and seize opportunities for training and betterment.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
2. Constructively work with fellow employees and customers.
3. Be flexible to prioritization changes and travel on short notice.
4. Computer literate with general Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) and have a willingness and ability to learn the needed functions of a business software package or specific applications related to our work.
5. 3-5 years minimum experience in repair related work, ex: industrial maintenance, heavy equipment repair, ag equipment repair, truck & bus maintenance & repair.
6. Air conditioning certificate or be willing and able to obtain one within 30 days of hire
7. Own or purchase upon hire a mechanics tool set as specified by the company; specialized tools will be provided.
8. Possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Educational Requirements: - High school diploma or equivalent. A technical school or college diploma or certificate is preferred.
Expected Hours of Work - The hours of work for our technicians will vary greatly throughout the year and will reflect the needs of our customers and work backlog. In the off-season one can expect a standard 40-50-hour work week, MF. In-season this can expand to 60-70 hours per week to include many Saturdays and potentially holidays (Memorial Day, July 4th) in season. Working on Sunday’s will be avoided if possible.
Travel - Most every day will require some amount of day travel throughout the state. Overnight travel will occur in season but is not expected to impact more than 1-2 nights per week. Company and outside training opportunities will require some weekly travel. It is not expected that this travel will impact more than 4-5 weeks per year once the initial training period is concluded.
Work Environment - The environment will include working in a variety of weather conditions exposed to cold, heat, rain, sun and more. The work will be physically demanding requiring the lifting of parts exceeding 50 lbs., standing, bending and reaching most every day.
