Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union seeks a passionate and dedicated 8th Grade English Language Arts Teacher to join our team of collaborative and enthusiastic staff at our newly restructured regional middle school, Equinox Valley Middle School. The 8th Grade English Language Arts Teacher plays an essential role in shaping the middle school experience by fostering a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel known, challenged, encouraged to explore diverse perspectives, take academic risks, and empowered to discover their voices as readers, writers, and communicators.
In this position, the Teacher will deliver engaging, proficiency- and inquiry-based English and Language Arts instruction that cultivates deep reading comprehension, persuasive writing, and active listening skills in every student. Beyond teaching foundational literacy skills, the successful candidate will champion social-emotional learning, civic engagement, and the development of independent, empathetic thinkers during a time of rapid growth, exploration, and self-discovery.
The 8th Grade English Language Arts Teacher is responsible for delivering learning opportunities that develop students' informational, critical, technological, and media literacies, supervising and assessing student performance, & collaborating with content/grade-level colleagues to ensure transferable skill development in accordance with district ends policies.
Applicants are expected to know current instructional research and evidence-based instructional practices. Strong candidates will demonstrate a student-centered approach, exemplary oral and written communication skills, strong relationship building skills with students, and a commitment to working collaboratively with all colleagues. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience delivering rich English/Language Arts learning experiences to middle school students in a public school setting.
