What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician - Large Animal position at Equine Innovative Medicine?
Overview
Busy, privately-owned, two doctor equine veterinary practice seeking experienced veterinary technician. MUST have strong horse handling experience in a professional setting and the ability to handle horses of all ages and temperaments. Veterinary experience strongly preferred. Must live within 30 minutes of practice base in Snohomish. Pay DOE.
Responsibilities
- Help our DVMs service ambulatory calls as well as outpatient appointments
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures - including jogging horses during exams
- Ensure a clean and safe environment by following aseptic techniques and protocols.
- Handle animal catheterization when necessary
- Assist with diagnostic tests, including standing CT, X-rays, endoscopy and blood draws
- Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by the veterinarian
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient
- Maintain equipment
Requirements
- Proven experience as a large animal Veterinary Technician or similar role is preferred
- Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and husbandry practices
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures and equipment used in veterinary medicine
- Ability to perform X-ray imaging
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Reliable and punctual
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and colleagues
- Compassionate attitude towards animals with a strong commitment to their care
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Certification or degree in Veterinary Technology/ Technician is preferred but not mandatory

Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour
