Salary: $140,000 - $150,000Overview of Position:The Senior Accounting Manager is an integral part of the finance team and will report directly to the Director of Accounting. With significant leadership accountability, this role will be responsible for general ledger accounting functions, ensuring compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Sarbanes Oxley (404a), supporting financial statement preparation, SEC reporting and tax returns. The senior manager must have proven ability to thrive in a team environment and be willing to assist other team members to achieve goals and objectives. Strong cross-functional skills also required with a process improvement mindset, the ability to translate technical accounting literature/requirements and policy into clear requirements for execution, strong change management skills, and ability to take initiative and drive issues through to resolution as necessary.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Manages general ledger accounting including reviewing or preparing reconciliations and consolidated financial statementsSupports the Director of Accounting with all periodic financial close processesAnalyses contracts and accounts, and works with operations to determine clinical and R&D related accrualsPrepares payroll and intercompany transactions, and related reconciliationsSupports the Director of Accounting/SVP Finance with equity administration and related accountingSupports the delivery of timely and accurate consolidated financial records for internal and external reporting purposes, while meeting quarterly and annual SEC reporting deadlinesEnsures compliance with US GAAPSupports the Director of Accounting with management of quarterly reviews and external auditsEnsures compliance with SOX, prepares/updates process flowcharts and narratives, and manages testing by an external CPA firmSupports Director of Accounting/SVP Finance with SEC reporting requirements including quarterly 10Q/annual 10K tie outs with adequate documentation and supportSupports SVP Finance/Director Accounting with tax returns and tax provision requestsManages the annual EQ AUS tax return and R&D tax incentive claimsManages financial transactions with related parties, including building/maintaining processes to ensure timely and accurate reportingDevelops standards and processes for proper accounting and maintaining best practicesPrepares reconciliations, entries and analysis while leveraging a strong understanding of various systems including Netsuite (ERP), Certent (equity), Condor (clinical accruals), Expensify (T&E), Bill.com (AP), et al.Establishes and monitors financial systems collect, analyze, verify, and report financial information to document companys financial performance for management to make well-informed business decisionsSupports business development and financing due diligence and any ad-hoc accounting/finance projects where requiredCandidate Requirements:Education: Bachelors degree in accounting/financeCPA requiredExperience:Minimum of five years of accounting/finance experiencePublic company experience requiredSupervisory experience a plusBiotech/pharma experience a plusProficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and ERP software NetSuite a plusSkills and Attributes:Strong knowledge of US GAAP with proven history of applying these principles to various routine and non-routine transactionsFlexibility to adapt in a cross-functional and dynamic start-up environmentAbility to hit the ground running and a proven self-starterAnalytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skillsMeticulous attention to detail with superb organizational skillsExhibits high integrity and ethical standardsBusiness process improvement mind-setExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work under pressure, take accountability, and meet tight deadlinesProven ability to business partner and collaborate effectively with staff, management and all stakeholders in time sensitive, performance driven environmentsEqual Opportunity Employer
