Role Description:
This position is flexible and will be tailored to the candidate's experience and qualifications. Depending on your background, this opportunity may be hired as a:
- Volunteer Director
- Volunteer Manager
- Volunteer Coordinator
- Volunteer Leadership Intern
Regardless of title, you'll play a vital leadership role in recruiting, training, scheduling, and supporting the volunteers who make our mission possible.
We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with people, has an outgoing and welcoming personality, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is highly organized, communicates effectively, and enjoys building relationships while creating a positive volunteer experience.
Working closely with instructors, office staff, equine staff, and leadership, you'll help ensure our volunteers are well-trained, engaged, and prepared to support our programs safely and successfully.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit, interview, onboard, and retain volunteers
- Lead volunteer orientations and ongoing training sessions
- Schedule volunteers across all Equestrian Bridges programs and events
- Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteer communication
- Manage volunteer records, scheduling, and hour tracking within the Bloomerang Volunteer Portal
- Maintain volunteer policies, procedures, and safety expectations
- Collaborate with instructors, equine staff, and leadership to ensure appropriate volunteer coverage
- Support therapeutic riding lessons, camps, special events, and community outreach
- Build strong relationships that encourage volunteer engagement and long-term retention
- Foster a welcoming, organized, and mission-driven volunteer culture
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience leading, coordinating, managing, or working with volunteers preferred
- Experience in nonprofit leadership, community engagement, education, recreation, customer service, or a related field preferred
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Comfortable learning and using volunteer management software (Bloomerang experience is a plus)
- Horse or barn experience is preferred, but not required
- Willingness to learn Equestrian Bridges' horse safety procedures and volunteer protocols
- Comfortable working in both an office and outdoor, horse-centered environment
- Commitment to professionalism, safety, and the mission of Equestrian Bridges
