Position Overview
The Equine & Facility Manager is responsible for the day-to-day care of all horses and the overall operation and maintenance of the Equestrian Bridges facility. This is a hands-on role suited for someone who takes pride in hard work, enjoys being outdoors, and is confident managing both equine care and property operations.
This position requires a proactive, dependable individual who can take ownership of responsibilities, solve problems in real time, and ensure the facility runs safely and efficiently at all times.
Position Responsibilities:
Equine Care & Management
- Oversee daily care, health, and welfare of all therapy horses
- Manage feeding programs, supplements, and overall conditioning
- Coordinate veterinary, farrier, and dental schedules
- Monitor horse behavior, soundness, and overall wellbeing
- Prepare horses for lessons and ensure safety standards are upheld
Facility & Property Operations
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep of barns, fencing, arenas, and property
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all working areas including feed rooms, tack rooms, and equipment storage
- Operate and maintain equipment such as tractors, mowers, UTVs, and implements
- Ensure grounds, pastures, and arena footing are properly maintained
Leadership & Team Support
- Lead and support barn staff, interns, and volunteers
- Provide guidance on safe horse handling and facility practices
- Maintain a high standard of organization, safety, and accountability
- Assist with event setup, operations, and overall facility readiness
Overall Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety, care, and wellbeing of all horses and participants
- Maintain a clean, functional, and professional facility environment
- Take initiative in identifying and addressing daily operational needs
- Support program staff to ensure smooth execution of lessons and events
- Uphold the mission and values of Equestrian Bridges in all aspects of work
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 5–10 years of hands-on horse experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of horse behavior, handling, and care practices
- Experience with facility maintenance, fencing, equipment operation, or general ranch work
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions without constant supervision
- Strong work ethic with a “get it done” mindset
- Effective communication and ability to work alongside a team
- Experience supervising staff or volunteers is a plus
- Familiarity with equine-assisted services or nonprofit work is a plus
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- This is a physically active role requiring lifting, carrying, and manual labor
- Must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and perform physically demanding tasks
- Ability to safely handle horses of varying sizes and temperaments
- Work schedule may include early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends based on operational needs
