Framework And Position Summary
Equality Florida consistently leads efforts to advance LGBTQ equality across Florida. Based on both vision and need, we are hiring two Development Event Fellows to help support our critical work during a time of unprecedented legislative attacks on LGBTQ Floridians.
Our Development team plays a vital role in sustaining and expanding our capacity to fight for LGBTQ rights through strategic fundraising, community engagement, and events. Our signature Galas bring together donors, advocates, and allies to celebrate progress and fuel the movement forward.
Under the direction of the Statewide Events Manager, our Development Event Fellows will focus on supporting initiatives that advance equality and combat discrimination. Through our collective programs, we fight discrimination by empowering vulnerable populations while challenging interwoven systems of oppression. Our power lies in the ability to affect large-scale, systemic change across communities and throughout Florida.
The Development Fellow Is
- A passionate advocate for LGBTQ equality in Florida
- Is studying or experienced in events, nonprofit leadership, marketing, or hospitality
- High energy, detail-oriented, and highly organized
- Comfortable with tech including: Canva, Google Drive, Givesmart
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Committed to intersectional justice and supporting vulnerable communities
- Ready to develop professional skills while making a meaningful impact
Assist in Event Planning and Coordination
- Assist the Events Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing Equality Florida's Gala events
- Support administrative tasks including volunteer coordination, seating assignments, and event logistics
- Provide on-site event support including set-up, tear-down, donation collection, and general assistance as needed
- Build and maintain relationships with vendors, donors, and community partners
- Engage with event attendees and supporters to strengthen connections to Equality Florida's mission
- Support donor cultivation efforts specific to regional priorities
- Support fundraising initiatives and stewardship activities
- The Palm Beach fellow will focus on expanding our donor base in the Palm Beach region & helping with statewide vendor research
- The Tampa Bay fellow will provide direct operational support to the Events Manager with a specific focus on logistics
- Deep commitment to LGBTQ equality and understanding of issues facing the community in Florida
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Demonstrated ability to engage diverse stakeholders and build relationships
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Weekend and evening availability required for events and programs
- Access to reliable internet connection and computer with video capabilities
- Event organizing experience strongly preferred
- This is a part-time, temporary fellowship position
- We are hiring two fellows: one based in Palm Beach and one based in Tampa Bay
- Pay rate: $20/hour for the Palm Beach position; $18/hour for the Tampa Bay position
- Hours: 10 to 15 hours per week for 24 weeks
- Opportunities for extensions through the full year based on performance and organizational needs
- Location: These are hybrid positions with in-person requirements for events and regional activities
- The fellowship is expected to begin no later than February 1st, 2026
Salary : $18 - $20
