Viola's House provides temporary housing and support services to expectant mothers, aged 18‐ 22. Members engage in direct service by providing employment skills‐based training and job search assistance to residents of the housing facility and community parents that participate in the program. Activities include teaching resident’s computer skills; tutoring residents that are currently in school; facilitating resume/application workshops; and tracking resident’s employment and education progress; providing customer service by checking out parents at our Baby Benefit Boutique; and making follow-up calls to ensure all services are provided.
In addition, AmeriCorps Members will concentrate on one or more of the following positions: Baby Benefit Boutique Dallas 1) Members will attend and give classes at live events then conduct client follow-up calls to inform them about our services.2) Members will check out parents that shop at the Baby Benefit Boutique.3) Members will provide counseling to parents and provide them with their baby essentials. 4) Members will help in the warehouse sort and organize all items to be placed out on the floor of the Baby Benefit Boutique. 5) Members will conduct virtual parenting classes. 6) Members will travel throughout Dallas-Ft. Worth in our Mobile Unit, could potentially sit for long period of time. Maternity Home Dallas1) Members will help find resources for clients, teach residents life skills, provide tutoring, and maintain residents' schedules.2) Members will drive residents to their doctor's appointments. 3) Members will track and maintain the resident's process while in the program.4) Members will give past residents follow-up calls to continue tracking progress.
This location requires a total service commitment of 450 hours.
Benefits include
Living Allowance of $5,400.01; paid out biweekly ($771.43) Education Award of $1,956.35; earned at the end of term. 36 hours a week
