EQI Specialty Products – Applications Engineer
Location: Cleveland, OH
Reports To: Engineering and Quality Manager
JOB SUMMARY:
The Applications Engineer is responsible for full scope project lifecycle, combining both technical and commercial knowledge to secure sales opportunities. This begins with the qualification of initial leads, utilizing product knowledge and custom engineered solutions to fulfil customer requirements. Promoting all product offering of EQI Specialty Products including heat resistant castings and fabrications, production castings, rolled ring forgings, open and closed die forgings and specialty alloys. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, technically knowledgeable, and proactive in driving RFQs ensuring visibility, responsiveness, and alignment with EQI’s values of Respect, Integrity, Selflessness, and Excellence (RISE).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Deliver accurate, timely, customer-aligned quotations and engineered solutions that strengthen EQI Specialty Products’ reputation for responsiveness, reliability, and technical excellence.
• Lead & RFQ Management: Qualify new opportunities, ensure 100% on-time RFQ responses, and drive proactive follow-up to improve RFQ-to-order conversion rates.
• Customer & Sales Collaboration: Engage in customer meetings to define requirements; respond quickly to Sales, Engineering, and customer inquiries to support pipeline development and satisfaction.
• CRM & Pipeline Accuracy: Maintain 95% CRM data accuracy for visibility into quoting activity and forecasts.
• Technical Review & Engineering: Evaluate drawings and manufacturability; develop accurate 3D models and 2D drawings while ensuring technical precision and alignment with project needs.
• Supplier & Costing Coordination: Solicit and consolidate supplier quotes for materials, tooling, and processing to support accurate cost models.
• Quote Development & Submission: Prepare and deliver customer quotations—including pricing, terms, and technical data—in partnership with Sales Directors; confirm receipt and manage timely follow-up.
• Cross-Functional Alignment: Coordinate with Supply Chain, Quality, and Operations to validate feasibility, support process improvements, and ensure reliable delivery of customer requirements.
• Quality & Performance Standards: Maintain strong quote accuracy, technical drawing accuracy, timely responses, and consistent contribution to sales pipeline health. Last Reviewed: 2/16/26 (SM)
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
• 1–3 years in quoting, estimating, or technical sales support in manufacturing or industrial products.
• Experience with RFQ processes, costing models, and quoting systems.
• Knowledge of design engineering best practices; proficiency in SolidWorks and Microsoft Office.
• Strong technical communication, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple RFQs/projects.
• Domestic, with potential international, travel up to 25%.
