The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the design and development of compute products, including servers, storage systems, edge devices, and integrated computing solutions. This role oversees the engineering team responsible for developing customer-specific solutions and overseeing the engineering support of the manufacturing environment. The manager drives the product development approach from requirements definition and design to validation, production release, and post-launch support. They collaborate cross-functionally with product management, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality assurance teams to align technical development with business objectives and customer needs. The Engineering Manager combines technical expertise with strong leadership, project management, and interpersonal skills.  This role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the engineering team, delivering high-quality solutions on schedule, fostering processional development of the engineering team, and aligning engineering initiatives with the company’s strategic goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Oversee a team of engineers focused on compute hardware, software, and systems development, providing leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of compute product development, from requirements gathering through verification, validation, and piloting in manufacturing.
  • Work closely with Product Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, and Service teams to ensure products meet business goals, technical specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Provide technical direction in areas such as system architecture, hardware integration, and validation testing.
  • Establish and refine engineering processes, best practices, design standards, and quality assurance protocols to improve efficiency, consistency, and product quality.
  • Collaborate with component suppliers, technology vendors, and manufacturing partners to evaluate and integrate new technologies, components, and solutions.
  • Support field teams and customers by addressing technical escalations, resolving issues, and ensuring high levels of product reliability and customer satisfaction.
  • Stay current with industry trends in computing technologies (e.g., CPUs, GPUs, storage, networking, edge computing) and contribute to long-term product roadmaps and innovation initiatives.
  • Plan, prioritize, and manage development schedules, resource allocation, risk management, and deliverables to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop engineering talent; create growth opportunities; and build a strong, diverse, high-performing team culture.
  • Manage department budgets, tools, resources, and capital expenditures related to product development projects.
  • Communicate project status, risks, opportunities, and outcomes clearly to executive leadership and other key stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement in product development processes and methodologies to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and customer satisfaction, incorporating feedback and emphasizing design for manufacturability.
  • Ensure products meet applicable regulatory standards across all markets served.

Essential Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
  • 8 years of engineering experience, including at least 4 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Proven leadership experience within a technology organization, with a strong track record of driving technology product development initiatives.
  • Strong technical background with the ability to actively engage in technical discussions and reviews.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Jira) and familiarity with modern product development methodologies.
  • Experience managing projects across hardware, software, and systems engineering disciplines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance deep technical understanding and broader business priorities.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience in people management, with an emphasis on accountability, mentorship, and continuous improvement.
  • Successful track record overseeing the complete technology lifecycle from concept and design through development, deployment, and post-launch support.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences and produce clear, purpose-driven documentation.
  • Experience fostering a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative engineering environment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, systems integration, and embedded systems development.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards, Six Sigma, Lean methodologies, and other quality management practices.
  • The base pay range for this role is between $120,000 and $175,000 and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location, along with budgeted range of position.
