Position Summary
Epworth Security Systems is seeking an experienced Lead Access Control Technician to support large-scale installations across multifamily residential towers, mixed-use developments, and commercial office buildings.
This is a hands-on field leadership role responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and coordinating access control systems, structured cabling, and related electronic security technologies on active construction and retrofit projects.
This position requires strong technical experience, the ability to read construction drawings, and the capability to lead installation teams while coordinating with general contractors and project managers.
Location: DMV Area (Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia)

What You Will Do:
- Lead Large-Scale Installations: Manage access control installation phases for large residential (MDU) and commercial properties.
- System Integration: Install and troubleshoot panels, readers, and door hardware across multiple floors and units.
- High-Density Cabling: Run, terminate, and test low voltage cabling (CAT6, fiber) through risers, MDF/IDF closets, and concrete environments per BISCI standards.
- Blueprint Navigation: Read and interpret complex architectural and electrical blueprints specific to large developments.
- Coordination: Work alongside general contractors, electricians, and property managers to ensure timelines are met.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and guide installation technicians on-site to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project plans and client expectations.
Required Qualifications:
- Certification: Active BISCI Certification (Installer, Technician, or RCDD).
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of verifiable low voltage/access control experience.
- Project Type: Specific experience working in Large Residential Developments and/or Large Commercial Properties.
- Tools & Transportation: Must be "On-Tools" and possess a reliable transportation (truck or van).
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of electronic security systems, structured cabling, and low-voltage installation standards.
- Residency: Must reside in the Greater DMV area (DC, MD, or VA).
- References: Must be able to provide references on demand from recent large-scale projects.
- Licensing: Valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency with specific Access Control brands (Lenel, Software House, Brivo, Kantech, PDK, DKS).
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- Experience with fall protection / lift operation.
- MD / VA State Electronics License.
