What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intake Care Specialist - Floater position at Epworth Children's Home?

Position Summary:
Provide a nurturing group living experience consistent with the C.A.R.E. practice model for children in residential placement, the mission of Epworth, and the respective client's plan of care; rotate among cottages as needed; and assist with on/off campus activities as scheduled.
Must be able to attend required in-person trainings within two months of hire.
- Model the competence and character outcomes that are desired for residents, including practical skills for living and problem solving, social maturity, educational achievement, and integrity.
- Collaborate as a member of a child care team that exists to work on behalf of the best interests of each resident in its care.
- Provide primary supervision for residents while on duty based upon the development of authentic, caring relationships with each respective child or youth.
Job Task Summary
- Provide a safe, structured, supervised environment in the cottage and on/off campus while serving as a role model and teacher
- Develop meaningful, caring, and authentic relationships with all clients in the cottage
- Plan and participate in leisure time activities with clients, and assist in supervision of recreational activities on and off campus
- Assist the cottage staff with: Meal preparation, medication administration, building cleaning and building upkeep, life skills groups, behavior support, and crisis management
- Attend Bible Study with clients while on duty
- Attend required trainings and maintain 15 training hours per year
- Follow direction and guidance of immediate supervisor.
- Participate as appropriate in the PQI process as assigned

Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to use sound discretion and judgment in developing and implementing decisions
- Has a belief system and engages in faith practices that are compatible with those of the United Methodist Church
- Must be able to pass standard background checks, including: drug screen, employment physical, SLED, DSS Central Registry and Sex Offenders Registry
- Bachelor's Degree in human service field, or
- Two (2) year Associate Degree in Human Service field and two (2) years experience in working with children or adolescents, or
- Significant life experience in working with children and adolescents (i.e. group residential counselor, church/youth experience, camp counselor, etc.)
- Ability to be outdoors in cold/or heat for recreational purposes with the children. Ability to stand, twist, bend, climb stairs, lift, and stoop in the normal course of care of the children/youth.
- Must be able to plan and participate in activities and drive a minibus.
