POSITION SUMMARY: The Tool and Fixture Technician is primarily responsible for the following:

  • Completing all tooling and fixturing requirements on various pieces of equipment to meet production requirements.
  • Lends support and guidance with set-up challenges.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Complete complex set-ups of equipment to prepare fixtures and tooling in a timely and efficient manner to production requirements.
  • Make suggestions regarding tooling, fixtures, etc. to increase efficiency and provide ideas to improve operations.
  • Develop, create, repair, and/or re-sharpen production tooling, as needed.
  • Implement secondary changes to purchased tools to align with requirements.
  • Create fixtures from scratch, replicate existing ones, or rework current/purchased fixtures.
  • Complete Preventative Maintenance (PM) on equipment.
  • Perform tasks and projects as needed to support production and/or maintenance.
  • Perform inspection for dimensions of fixtures, tooling, and produced parts.
  • Follow specifications and procedures for manufacturing, i.e., work orders, operator instructions and set-up notes.
  • Employees must be able to relate to other people beyond receiving instructions. Can get along with co-workers or peers and respond appropriately to feedback from a supervisor in a professional manner.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identification of quality problems in materials and taking the initiative to correct.
  • Load/feed machine as needed to produce finished product.
  • Maintain production flow as required to meet established schedules.
  • Perform in-process, reprocess, and/or rework inspection for dimensions of parts produced and maintain documentation required.
  • Keep count of parts and maintain accurate records in ERP, as well as other supporting documentation.
  • Follow specifications and procedures for manufacturing, i.e., work orders, operator instructions and set-up notes.
  • Submit purchasing requests to the Engineering Manager or Purchasing Department, as needed.
  • Maintain fixtures and special tooling.
  • Provide accurate and complete turnover from shift to shift, when applicable.
  • Good housekeeping, safe work ethics, and conducting self in a professional manner.
  • Proper handling of all materials, parts, and equipment to prevent damage and loss of finished products.
  • Represent the company, as required, during customer, internal and ISO audits, as well as FDA inspections.
  • Understand the sensitivity of the data handled by systems under your control and take appropriate measures to protect it.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • EDUCATION: High School diploma, general education degree (GED) and/or trade school graduate preferred.
  • EXPERIENCE: 3 year(s) experience in a manufacturing environment, setting up and operating manual and/or CNC equipment, equivalent combinations of education and experience accepted OR demonstrated ability to execute the Essential Functions for this position. Internships and PT experience acceptable.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations, including basic arithmetic and trigonometry.
  • Ability to read complex blueprints, including understanding of GD&T, and use a wide variety of precision measuring equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment to achieve overall goals and objectives of the organization.
  • Proven strong problem-solving ability with attention to root cause.
  • Maintains a personal and professional ‘continuous improvement’ mindset.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, legible handwriting that meets GDP requirements, and good interpersonal skills.
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, and Notepad.
