Grounds Keeper

About the Role:

The Grounds Keeper plays a vital role in maintaining the aesthetic appeal and safety of the outdoor areas within our business premises. This position is responsible for ensuring that all landscaping, lawns, gardens, and exterior facilities are well-kept, clean, and inviting for employees, clients, and visitors. The Grounds Keeper will perform routine maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, planting, and irrigation system management to promote healthy and attractive grounds. Additionally, this role involves monitoring the condition of outdoor equipment and reporting any repairs or improvements needed to maintain operational efficiency. Ultimately, the Grounds Keeper contributes to creating a welcoming and professional environment that reflects positively on the company’s image and supports overall business operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or a related field.
• Ability to operate grounds maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
• Basic knowledge of plant care, irrigation systems, and landscaping principles.
• Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in horticulture, landscaping, or grounds maintenance.
• Experience with pest control and fertilization techniques.
• Familiarity with safety regulations related to groundskeeping and equipment operation.
• Ability to identify common plant diseases and pests and apply appropriate treatments.
• Valid driver’s license for operating company vehicles or transporting equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Perform regular lawn mowing, edging, trimming, and pruning of trees, shrubs, and flower beds to maintain neat and healthy landscaping.
• Manage irrigation systems by adjusting schedules, repairing leaks, and ensuring adequate watering to promote plant health and conserve water.
• Collect and dispose of debris, leaves, and litter to keep outdoor areas clean and safe for all users.
• Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools, ensuring they are in good working condition.
• Monitor the condition of walkways, fences, benches, and other outdoor structures, reporting any damage or safety hazards to management for timely repair.
• Assist with seasonal tasks such as planting flowers, applying fertilizers, mulching, and snow removal as needed.
• Collaborate with the facilities team to coordinate landscaping projects and improvements that enhance the overall appearance of the property.

Proficiency in operating various landscaping tools and machinery ensures efficient and safe completion of maintenance tasks.
