Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Physical Therapist Assistant will implement physical therapy plans of care under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist (PT). Assist patients with exercises and activities designed to improve mobility, strength, and function. Monitor patient responses to therapy and report any changes or concerns to the supervising PT. Educate patients and their families on exercises, safety, and home care techniques. The PTA will provide acute planning that will helps assess and implement exercise programs for preventing and managing chronic diseases and injuries, such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, osteoporosis, depression, cancer, and arthritis, and assist in restoring optimal physical function, and health and wellness.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient progress, treatment plans, and any changes in condition. Use templates and time management techniques to ensure efficiency in documentation.
Safety and Support:
Ensure patient safety during therapy sessions by adapting exercises based on patient needs and conditions. Conduct safety checks and vigilant observation, especially with cardiac and pulmonary patients.
Collaboration:
Work closely with PTs to ensure continuity of care and effective communication. Participate in team meetings and contribute to patient care discussions.
Professional Development:
Maintain certifications such as CPR/AED and ACLS. Engage in ongoing education to stay updated on best practices and new techniquesWork Days/Shift/Start Time:
10-20 Hours Per Week.
Work Days - Monday-Sunday
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
- Associate degree in Physical Therapist Assisting from an accredited program. Completion of supervised clinical rotations in various physical therapy settings. Current CPR/AED certification; ACLS certification preferred for certain settings
- License required
- BLS and First Aid required
- Pervious experience preferred but no required
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- If required, must be able to assist patient with light lifting and sitting
