Responsibilities
- Operate CNC milling machines and CNC lathes, ensuring accurate production according to detailed blueprints and technical drawings
- Set up machines by installing tooling, fixtures, and calibrating equipment for each job
- Program CNC machines using G-code, M-code, and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software to optimize machining operations
- Interpret mechanical blueprints and manufacturing specifications to determine machining parameters
- Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other measurement tools to verify part dimensions and quality standards
- Conduct machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs to maintain optimal performance
- Inspect finished parts through CNC quality inspection procedures, ensuring adherence to GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols at all times
Requirements
- Proven experience operating CNC machinery such as CNC milling machines and CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages including G-code and M-code; experience with CNC G-code programming is essential
- Familiarity with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software like SolidWorks or similar for interpreting technical drawings
- Skilled in blueprint reading and mechanical blueprint interpretation with an understanding of GD&T principles
- Proficiency with machining tools, manual machining techniques, grinders, hand tools, and tooling setup
- Ability to perform precision measurement using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments
- Basic math skills for calculations related to measurements and machining tolerances
- Experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM), Mazatrol controls, CAM programming, and metal machining is a plus
- Mechanical knowledge combined with the ability to troubleshoot machine issues efficiently
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality control in manufacturing processes
