Plastics Engineer

EPS Connects LLC
Essex, CT Full Time
POSTED ON 12/8/2025 CLOSED ON 1/7/2026

What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plastics Engineer position at EPS Connects LLC?

Position Overview

As a Plastics Engineer, you will play a central role in the full lifecycle of precision-molded plastic and elastomeric components—from concept and design through prototyping, testing, and production. You’ll lead critical engineering efforts focused on injection molding, mold design, tooling, and manufacturing process optimization.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including design engineers, mold makers, technicians, operators, and external vendors—to deliver highly accurate, repeatable, flash-free molded components that meet exacting performance standards.

If you thrive in a fast-paced, detail-intensive environment and enjoy shaping complex parts from idea to production, this role offers both challenge and impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain precision plastic and elastomeric components, injection molds, and transfer molds.
  • Ensure workmanship standards that achieve dimensionally accurate, repeatable, and flash-free molded parts.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, tooling, and molding teams to improve part design, tooling performance, and molding processes.
  • Initiate and document mold improvements, repairs, spare part requirements, and continuous-improvement actions.
  • Prepare detailed drawings, analyses, calculations, and specifications, ensuring accuracy across dimensions, tolerances, and design intent.
  • Develop test fixtures, testing methods, and validation experiments to confirm part performance.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams on production methods, tooling strategies, feasibility analyses, and cost estimates.
  • Document and maintain process specifications, work instructions, and participate in material review board (MRB) processes.
  • Support purchasing with vendor communication, equipment/tool specifications, and capital equipment decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering or a related engineering field.
  • 5 years of experience in plastic part design, mold design, tooling development, and injection molding operations.
  • Strong proficiency with design tools such as SolidWorks, TopSolid, Moldex3D, or comparable software.
  • Experience in medical or scientific product design is a plus.
  • Demonstrated interest in staying current with new materials, molding technologies, and manufacturing advances.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

This role offers the chance to work on highly sophisticated miniature components that influence next-generation technology across multiple industries.
