Responsibilities:
- Review, verify, and process all Release of Information (ROI) requests accurately and promptly.
- Ensure all disclosures comply with HIPAA, the Privacy Act, and applicable VA directives.
- Utilize VA software systems including VistA, CPRS, eROI , and SSA’s Electronic Records Express (ERE) portal.
- Log, track, and document all ROI activities within VA systems for auditing and reporting.
- Complete all ROI requests within 20 business days; same-day processing for urgent or STAT requests.
- Maintain minimum 95% accuracy and 100% privacy compliance in all release activities.
- Collaborate with the client’s Privacy Office, Health Information Management (HIM) staff, and care providers to standardize and optimize ROI workflows.
- Generate and maintain monthly performance and compliance reports for submission to the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR).
- Participate in quality audits, training programs, and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required.
- Language: Must be fluent and proficient in English (spoken and written).
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of full-time experience performing Release of Information (ROI) duties in a medical or healthcare setting.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations, ROI procedures, privacy and data protection laws, and VHA policies.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in VistA, CPRS, and eROI systems preferred.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy, organization, and confidentiality when handling sensitive records.
- Training: Completion of annual VA-mandated training in HIPAA, privacy, computer security, and ROI compliance (documentation required).
- Continuing Education: Must participate in approximately 8 hours per year of VA-provided in-service or continuing education.
