We are seeking a dependable, mature, and compassionate Medical Assistant / Medical Office Assistant who is looking for a long-term position and values becoming an integral part of a small specialty practice.
Position Summary
This role combines both clinical and administrative responsibilities. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, able to work independently, and comfortable interacting with patients who may have cognitive, behavioral, or neurological challenges.
Reliability, professionalism, patience, and strong communication skills are essential.
Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Obtain and document vital signs.
- Administer medications as directed by the provider.
- Maintain accurate patient records and medication lists.
- Provide patient education and follow-up instructions.
- Assist with EEG preparation and cognitive testing (training provided).
Administrative Duties
- Schedule appointments and manage provider schedules.
- Complete patient intake and registration.
- Verify and update insurance information.
- Prepare charts for upcoming appointments.
- Answer phones, emails, and faxes professionally.
- Scan and upload medical records.
- Coordinate referrals, authorizations, and outside records requests.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a medical office, physician practice, or healthcare setting preferred.
- Medical Assistant certification preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong computer and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Experience with insurance verification and prior authorizations is a plus.
- Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
- Comfortable working with patients with neurological and cognitive conditions.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

- Ability to work primarily in New Brunswick with occasional coverage in Princeton as needed.
