Full Job Description

Position Summary: Product Designer. Employee would be responsible for designing, drawing and reading complicated drawings for manufacture of fuel storage tanks, and stairs with platforms for the Power Generation industry and relative to the guidelines within the standards of the Electrical Generating Systems Association (EGSA). The ideal candidate would possess a growth mindset.

Essential Functions

Daily job responsibilities/functions to include, but not limited to:

1. Collaborate with other draftspersons, customers and engineers to gather product information, requirements and designs.

2. Calculating dimensions, weight limitations and requirements in materials.

3. Prior experience using lean tools and methodology preferred.

4. Describing production methods step-by-step (including equipment and software types to be used).

5. Computer-Aided Design (CAD) 3D is preferred.

6. AutoCAD, Solid Works and/or Inventor are preferred.

7. Design diagrams, maps and layouts to illustrate workflow.

8. Prepare and review rough sketches and review them along with the production team.

9. Identify potential operational issues and redesign products to improve functionality.

10. Ensure final design complies with regulatory, production and quality standards.

11. Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing/equipment.

12. Meets agreed upon goals and objectives in a timely manner.

13. Arrives to work, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled.

14. Interact with organizational team members and other departments in a professional manner.

15. Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook is a must.

Qualifications:
Related degree from a technical college is desired. One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Good math skills are essential. Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed written and/or oral instructions. Ability to follow through on work assignments. Demonstrated effective verbal, written, and communication skills. Situational awareness of surroundings, risk, and hazards. Self-motivated.

Computer, copier, other office machinery

Physical Requirements:
Work environment is an office atmosphere. The work environment will also involve some outside exposure. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time.

Schedule:

• 8-hour Shift (7:00 am – 4:00pm)
• Monday through Friday

Experience:

• AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor or Comparable Program: (Preferred)
• Blueprint Reading: 2 years (Preferred)
• Production Experience: 2 years (Preferred)
