Job Type: Full-Time | Exempt
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Distribution Center Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of a high-volume distribution center. This is a senior-level leadership opportunity for an operations professional who knows how to lead large teams, improve warehouse performance, maintain inventory accuracy, and keep a fast-paced operation running efficiently.
The Senior Distribution Center Manager will oversee multiple department managers and supervisors while providing overall direction for a workforce of approximately 50–200 employees. This individual will be responsible for operational performance, labor planning, inventory control, workflow, productivity, employee development, and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who is comfortable being on the warehouse floor, analyzing operational performance, holding leaders accountable, and developing solutions that improve efficiency and service.
Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee the day-to-day operations of the distribution center, ensuring operational and financial goals are achieved.
  • Lead and develop approximately 4–12 department managers, who oversee supervisors and hourly associates across multiple warehouse departments.
  • Provide overall leadership, coordination, and performance management for approximately 50–200 employees.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve warehouse operating procedures, workflows, and production plans.
  • Monitor labor utilization, productivity, inventory levels, operational performance, and overall warehouse efficiency.
  • Oversee warehouse layout and storage strategies based on product movement, volume, size, weight, and operational requirements.
  • Manage and review warehouse financial reporting and identify opportunities to improve operational performance and control costs.
  • Ensure accurate inventory records and investigate discrepancies between physical inventory and inventory control systems.
  • Analyze slow-moving, excess, damaged, or unusable inventory and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Coordinate special, periodic, and cycle inventories as required.
  • Establish work procedures, staffing plans, and schedules to meet operational deadlines and business demands.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and implement solutions that improve productivity, accuracy, and workflow.
  • Ensure employees follow established procedures for receiving, storing, handling, maintaining, and shipping inventory.
  • Provide clear written and verbal direction to managers, supervisors, and associates.
  • Develop department leaders through coaching, training, performance management, and accountability.
  • Review employee and departmental performance and address errors, complaints, performance concerns, and operational issues.
  • Promote teamwork and effective communication across departments while resolving employee concerns and workplace challenges.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, established procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Partner with senior leadership to execute site objectives and support continued operational growth.
Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of progressive distribution center, warehouse, logistics, or operations management experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple managers/supervisors and large warehouse teams.
  • Strong knowledge of distribution center operations, inventory control, labor planning, productivity, and warehouse workflow.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict operational deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and hold leadership teams accountable.
  • Strong decision-making skills and the ability to resolve operational and employee-related challenges.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume distribution environment.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for more than someone who can simply maintain an operation. We want a leader who can take ownership of the distribution center, develop strong management teams, identify opportunities for improvement, and drive measurable operational results.
Successful candidates will be visible, engaged leaders who understand both the people and operational sides of distribution management and are comfortable making decisions in a demanding, deadline-driven environment.
Compensation
$90,000–$95,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
If you have a strong background in distribution center leadership, warehouse operations, inventory management, process improvement, and large-team management, we encourage you to apply.
