About the Role
This person will serve as the company’s internal tax expert, working closely with financial advisors to ensure clients receive coordinated guidance across their investments, retirement plans, and tax situations. The ideal candidate can independently manage individual tax returns, confidently advise clients, and help establish repeatable processes as the tax practice grows. Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal and state individual income tax returns for high-net-worth clients.
- Provide proactive tax-planning and advisory support throughout the year.
- Partner with the wealth management team to identify tax-efficient financial planning opportunities.
- Evaluate and advise on Roth conversions, retirement income strategies, capital gains, charitable giving, and other tax-planning considerations.
- Review clients’ financial circumstances and identify opportunities to reduce current and future tax liabilities.
- Serve as a credible tax resource during client meetings and planning conversations.
- Communicate complex tax concepts clearly to clients and internal team members.
- Coordinate with clients outside accountants, attorneys, and other professional advisors when appropriate.
- Help develop the systems, processes, technology, and workflows required to build a scalable in-house tax practice.
- Remain current on changes to federal and state tax laws affecting individuals, retirees, business owners, and high-net-worth families.
- Maintain accurate client documentation and adhere to all applicable professional, privacy, and compliance standards.
- Support the continued development of the company’s integrated tax advisory offering.
Qualifications
- Active CPA license strongly preferred.
- Enrolled Agent designation may be considered, particularly for someone actively completing the CPA certification process.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing individual income tax returns.
- Experience working with high-net-worth individuals, retirees, executives, business owners, or similarly complex clients.
- Strong understanding of individual income taxation and proactive tax-planning strategies.
- Ability to independently manage client work with limited oversight.
- Comfortable participating in client-facing meetings and serving as a trusted advisor.
- Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail.
- Consistent, dependable, and interested in establishing a long-term career with the firm.
