Electrical Test Engineer II

Epia Neuro
Alameda, CA Full Time
POSTED ON 4/14/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 5/9/2026

About Us

Epia Neuro is a neural technology company developing intent-driven systems designed to restore function and independence for people living with neurological conditions. Its platform integrates implantable neural interfaces, adaptive algorithms, and assistive devices to translate neural intent into real-world action. The company’s initial focus is stroke-related motor impairment, with expansion in cognitive decline and other neurological disorders, focusing on long-term solutions for the growing aging population.

The Role

We’re looking for a Electrical Test Engineer II who wants to build deeply technical, first-of-their-kind medical systems.

You’ll own critical parts of our implantable and external hardware systems, from architecture through prototyping to production. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys moving between bench work and system design, and wants their engineering decisions to directly shape patient outcomes.

How We Work

  • We are intentional. We prioritize and are thoughtful about how we use others’ time.
  • We care for others. We prioritize safety both for patients and one another.
  • We own outcomes, not just tasks. Our work demands the highest standards because it impacts real patients and real lives.
  • Humility is a strength. We are honest about what we know and what we don’t know. Getting it right matters more than being right.

What We’re Looking For

  • Architect and design low-power, miniaturized electrical systems for implantable and wearable medical devices
  • Lead schematic design, component selection, simulation, and PCB layout for complex mixed-signal systems
  • Develop and debug analog/digital systems integrating MCUs and FPGAs
  • Prototype early-stage hardware and rapidly iterate through testing and validation
  • Bring up new boards from scratch and drive root-cause debugging using lab instrumentation
  • Collaborate closely with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, and systems teams to deliver fully integrated products
  • Partner with manufacturing and process development to transition designs into production
  • Contribute to system-level decisions that define product performance, power budgets, communication architecture, and long-term scalability

Qualifications

  • B.S. in electrical engineering or related technical field, with 3 years of experience designing low-power, small form-factor electrical systems
  • OR M.S. in electrical engineering or related technical field, with 3 years of experience designing low-power, small form factor electrical systems
  • Have built real hardware end-to-end — from concept to bring-up to validation
  • Are deeply comfortable debugging at the bench with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and signal generators
  • Have experience with:
  • Sensor front-ends and low-power ADCs
  • DC-DC converters and power management systems
  • Li-ion charging and battery systems
  • Wireless communication (BLE, WiFi, Zigbee, or similar)
  • MCUs and embedded systems
  • Common protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, etc.)
  • Have full PCB ownership experience: schematic capture, simulation (e.g., LTspice/PSpice), layout oversight, library management
  • Have worked with tools such as Altium, Allegro, KiCad, or similar

Nice to Have

  • Experience with wireless power transfer (WPT)
  • FPGA design experience (VHDL or SystemVerilog)
  • Strong signal and power integrity knowledge
  • Proficiency in C/C , Python, or MATLAB
  • Experience in regulated environments (especially ISO 13485)
  • Background in implantable or Class III medical devices

Benefits

Full-time employees are eligible for the following benefits listed below.

  • Competitive base salary with equity
  • 100% of healthcare coverage for you and your dependents
  • Generous vacation policy
  • Paid parental leave
  • Work from our beautiful waterfront office in Alameda, CA, with access to collaborative spaces and labs
