About the Role
EPI Geophysics, Inc. is seeking an experienced
Utility Locator / GPR Specialist
to support our growing private utility locating and subsurface investigation services. This role is ideal for someone with strong hands-on experience using
GPR, EM locating (Pipe & Cable), and related technologies
to identify underground utilities and subsurface features in complex environments.

acquisition of Advanced Geological Services (AGS)
, EPI Geophysics now offers a rare combination of
high-end geophysical services and robust private utility locating capabilities
. This creates an exciting opportunity for utility-focused professionals to work alongside geophysicists, expand their technical exposure, and grow with a company that covers the full spectrum of subsurface investigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform private utility locating using:
- Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
- Electromagnetic (EM) pipe and cable locating
- Passive and active locating techniques
- Clear drilling, test pit, and excavation locations
- Identify and map subsurface utilities and anomalies
- Collect GPS data and prepare accurate field documentation
- Assist with concrete scanning, UST investigations, and subsurface mapping
- Communicate findings clearly with clients and project teams
- Comprehensive report writing
- Maintain equipment and follow safety protocols
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years of private utility locating and/or GPR experience
- Strong understanding of subsurface utility investigation (SUI) practices
- Experience working on active construction and environmental sites
- Comfortable working independently in the field
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
- ASNT Level II, SUE experience, or similar certifications are a plus
