The Clinic Laboratory Technician performs a wide variety of laboratory analyses by methodologies that vary from basic and moderately complex according to established standards and procedures in order to obtain valid data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Utilizes and maintains high technology, scientific equipment and recognizes and resolves testing problems and invalid or inconsistent test data. Collects laboratory specimens by venipuncture and capillary puncture for subsequent testing and collects throat culture specimens. Demonstrates a commitment to professional accountability and growth to maintain and expand knowledge and skills. Contributes to the achievement of the mission and philosophy of the Organization. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs clinical laboratory tests to provide accurate
diagnostic and therapeutic data in a timely manner.
- Performs comprehensive phlebotomy skills for subsequent
test procedures.
- Performs quality control studies to ensure the validity of
laboratory data.
- Adheres to appropriate safety and personal protection
policies.
- Maintains equipment and work area in a manner to ensure
quality of test results and to provide a safe work environment.
- Provides collection instructions for outpatients.
- Performs comprehensive computer skills per established
protocol to ensure appropriate and timely transmission of
test results.
- Collects and processes reference laboratory specimens to
prepare for clinical laboratory studies both onsite and
send outs for reference lab.
- Performs drug testing as directed.
- Provides clinical orientation to new Associates and
students.
- Performs general clerical and office functions including
entering demographic and ordering information into the
computer system.
- Processes specimens and assures proper distribution for
testing.
- Maintains accurate logs and records. Prepare monthly
statistics.
- Performs quality control studies to ensure the validity of
laboratory data.
- Considers the age of the patient served, applies knowledge
of growth and development and age-specific techniques
through the life span (neonates/infants, pediatrics,
adolescents, adults, and geriatrics) in planning and
implementing care.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
One to three years laboratory experience preferred with proven competency skills. Computer skills, medical terminology required.
Shift: 1st Shift
Compensation: $16.65-$22.41 based off years of experience
Salary : $17 - $22
