Position Summary:
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven GM/Director of Flatbed Freight to lead and grow our flatbed division within a dynamic freight brokerage 3PL environment. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of flatbed operations, including carrier relationships, customer service, compliance, profitability, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will bring deep industry expertise, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record of scaling flatbed freight operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:
Develop and execute the strategic vision for the flatbed division, aligning with company goals and market opportunities. - Operational Oversight:
Manage day-to-day operations including dispatch, load planning, carrier sourcing, and customer service to ensure efficiency and service excellence. - Team Management:
Recruit, train, and lead a high-performing team of account managers, dispatchers, and carrier sales reps. - Carrier Development:
Build and maintain strong relationships with flatbed carriers to ensure capacity, reliability, and competitive pricing. - Customer Engagement:
Collaborate with sales and account management teams to deliver tailored solutions for shippers requiring flatbed services. - Compliance & Safety:
Ensure all operations comply with DOT regulations, safety standards, and internal policies. - P&L Responsibility:
Own the financial performance of the flatbed division, including budgeting, forecasting, and margin optimization. - Technology & Process Improvement:
Leverage TMS and other tools to streamline operations and improve visibility, reporting, and decision-making.
Qualifications:
- 7 years of experience in freight brokerage or 3PL, with a focus on flatbed freight.
- Proven leadership experience managing teams and scaling operations.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations, load securement, and flatbed equipment types.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
