Summary
We are seeking a skilled Machine Technician to join our team in the manufacturing sector. The Machine Shop Quality Technician (MSQT) is responsible for ensuring the quality of manufactured parts and components produced by the machine shop. This individual performs inspections, audits, and tests to verify conformance to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This role is pivotal in ensuring the quality and precision of our products, contributing directly to our mission of delivering excellence to our customers.
Responsibilities
Inspection & Testing:
- Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections of machined parts using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, CMM and other relevant tools.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine dimensional and quality requirements.
- Conduct visual inspections for surface defects, burrs, and other non-conformities.
- Perform hardness testing,surface finish analysis, and other material testing as required. o Document inspection results accurately and completely, including any deviations or non-conformances.
Quality Control:
- Monitor and control process parameters to ensure consistent quality. o Identify and document non-conforming materials and products.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities to address quality issues. o Assist in the development and implementation of quality control plans and procedures.
- Maintain calibration of inspection equipment.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Create and maintain accurate quality records, including inspection reports, non conformance reports, and corrective action reports.
- Prepare and present quality data to management and other stakeholders.
- Assist in the development of work instructions and standard operating procedures.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction. o Participate in Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives.
- Support the implementation of new technologies and equipment.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with machinists, engineers, and other team members to resolve quality issues.
- Provide training and guidance to shop personnel on quality standards and procedures.
- Work closely with suppliers to address quality concerns related to incoming materials.
Safety:
- Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree in a technical field (e.g., manufacturing technology, quality assurance) preferred. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Quality Technician in a machine shop environment.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001.
- Basic understanding of machining processes (turning, milling, grinding, etc.).
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
- Experience with CMM programming and operation (a plus but not always required).
