Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Charge Poster to join our healthcare administration team. Duties
- Review and interpret medical documentation, including physician notes, procedure reports, and diagnostic results to accurately assign appropriate billing codes such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes.
- Post charges related to various medical services, procedures, and diagnostics into Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems with precision.
- Ensure compliance with coding guidelines including DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications and proper application of ICD coding standards.
- Collaborate with medical billing and collections teams to resolve discrepancies or errors in posted charges promptly.
- Maintain detailed records of all posted charges, adjustments, and corrections for audit purposes.
- Stay updated on changes in coding regulations, insurance policies, and billing practices to ensure ongoing accuracy.
- Assist in training or mentoring new team members on charge posting procedures and system functionalities.
Experience
- Proven experience in medical office administration or healthcare billing roles with a focus on charge posting or coding.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and the use of EMR/EHR systems.
- Strong understanding of CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding standards, DRG classifications, and medical billing processes.
- Experience working with medical collections and insurance claim submissions is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical coding software tools and billing platforms is highly desirable.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex clinical documentation accurately.
