About the Role:
EPC Project Management Consulting is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to join our team, serving a prominent hyperscale datacenter client in various locations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the construction of mission-critical/data center projects or other critical environments such as hospitals or the oil and gas industries. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can work with the Owners Representative team to oversee the entire construction process, ensuring that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Develop, update, and monitor job progress using QMS program, including scheduling, estimating, and budgeting to ensure project alignment with schedules.
- Estimating and Bidding: Perform quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and bid solicitation.
- Research: Provide research options and regulatory information as required.
- Procurement: Purchase and coordinate the delivery of materials, ensuring optimum prices, quality, and conformance to specifications and budget.
- Invoice and Change Order Management: Review and approve invoices and change orders.
- Negotiation: Negotiate with subcontractors and vendors for specific trades, ensuring comprehensive scope coverage.
- Submittal Review: Review vendor and subcontractor shop drawing submittals for construction as directed by the supervisor.
- Site Familiarization: Relocate to specific job sites (if required) to become familiar with procurement and construction practices.
- Meetings and Reporting: Attend weekly job site meetings and assist in preparing various reports such as monthly red files, progress analyses/schedules, billings, and status reports.
- File Management: Assist in organizing and maintaining job files to ensure workflow continuity. Submit verbal and written reports on project status to the supervisor.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with customers, direct consultants, and subcontractors on the project(s).
- Safety Enforcement: Responsible for the communication, implementation, and enforcement of the company's safety program on site.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Construction Management from a four-year college or university and/or significant relevant experience within the mission-critical industry on the construction side.
- Ideal experience includes mission-critical/data center projects or critical environments (hospital, oil/gas, etc.).
- Commissioning experience is a huge plus
- Basic computer skills, including G-Suite, tablets, and smartphones.
- Working knowledge of scheduling applications is a plus.
- Energetic, self-motivated individual with a passion for collaboration and professional development.
- Strong leadership abilities, able to lead by example and follow instructions from the PM team.
- PMP certification is a plus. (Company will pay for certification if not already had)
