Location: El Paso, Texas
Job Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications, plus bonus opportunities
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced HVAC and Maintenance Technician to join our growing team. This position reports directly to the CEO and works with a team of maintenance technicians to provide exceptional service to our commercial tenants and properties.
The ideal candidate is dependable, customer-service oriented, takes pride in their work, and has extensive experience with HVAC systems and general building maintenance. This individual must be able to work independently, complete jobs from start to finish, and maintain a positive, "can-do" attitude under all circumstances.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesHVAC and Mechanical Systems
- Diagnose, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC systems, including:
- Package units
- Split systems
- Heat pumps
- Boilers
- Chillers
- Cooling towers
- Ventilation systems
- Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC and mechanical equipment
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend repairs or replacements
General Building Maintenance
- Perform plumbing repairs and maintenance
- Perform electrical troubleshooting and repairs
- Repair and replace doors, locks, hardware, and cabinets
- Complete drywall, painting, carpentry, and flooring repairs
- Perform minor roof repairs and exterior maintenance
- Conduct routine property inspections
- Identify and address safety concerns promptly
Project and Team Responsibilities
- Estimate labor and material requirements for maintenance projects
- Coordinate and oversee maintenance work orders
- Assist with training and directing maintenance team members
- Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and supplies
- Determine when work should be completed in-house or outsourced
- Provide technical recommendations regarding facility improvements and equipment replacement
Customer Service
- Interact professionally and courteously with tenants, vendors, and coworkers
- Complete work orders efficiently with minimal callbacks
- Communicate regularly with management regarding project status and property needs
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times
On-Call Responsibilities
- Participate in an after-hours emergency maintenance rotation
- Respond to urgent maintenance issues as required
Minimum Qualifications
- HVAC EPA Certification required
- Minimum 3-5 years of HVAC maintenance experience preferred
- Experience with commercial HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, and related mechanical equipment
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Proof of current auto insurance
- Clean criminal background required. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
- Must reside within 50 minutes of El Paso, Texas
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Basic computer and smartphone proficiency
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Must possess own basic hand and HVAC tools
Physical Requirements
The position requires the ability to:
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Work on ladders and elevated surfaces
- Climb stairs frequently
- Bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach overhead
- Move appliances and equipment
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Work in confined spaces when necessary
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with commercial office buildings
- Experience supervising maintenance personnel
- Experience with preventative maintenance programs
- Knowledge of building automation systems
- Additional certifications in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical systems
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience
