General Summary The Maintenance Manager oversees all maintenance activities within the plastics extrusion facility to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of equipment and infrastructure. This role is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating maintenance programs to minimize downtime, maximize production output, and maintain compliance with safety and quality standards. Works under general direction of the Plant Engineer; exercises discretion and judgment on work priority on a regular basis; and high degree of creativity is expected. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Lead, train, and supervise a team of maintenance technicians and electricians. Develop and manage preventive and reactive maintenance programs for extrusion lines, ancillary equipment, and plant utilities. Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement long-term corrective actions. Diagnose and repair issues in extrusion and downstream equipment. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize equipment performance and support process improvement initiatives. Coordinate with production to schedule maintenance with minimal disruption. Manage spare parts inventory and vendor relationships. Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company safety standards. Develop and manage maintenance budgets, capital projects, and cost-saving initiatives. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance. Support installation and commissioning of new extrusion lines or process improvements. Performs other duties as required. Job Specifications Knowledge Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience). 3 years of maintenance management experience in a plastics extrusion or similar continuous manufacturing environment. Strong hands-on knowledge of extrusion equipment, drives, PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems. Proven leadership and team development skills. Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems). Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills. Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Skills and abilities Proficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing, and speaking. Ability to use a computer, and proficiency of the use of MS Office and other business and engineering software. Familiarity with profile extrusion equipment (e.g., Cincinnati Milacron, Davis-Standard, or similar) Knowledge of Allen-Bradley Systems and basic programming/troubleshooting. Ability to manage several activities/projects at once, to organize and prioritize work, to meet deadlines, to prepare plans, goals, and budgets. Demonstrated ability to be mobile in the work environment. Ability to pass a drug test. Conduct Self-managing; works well under little supervision. Highly motivated and enthusiastic.
