Job Summary:
The Fragrance Development Associate Manager will help drive the end-to-end fragrance process—from trend forecasting and olfactive strategy through brief creation, evaluation, optimization, and launch. This role partners closely with Product Development, Marketing, Packaging, and external fragrance houses to bring innovative, consumer-loved scents to market. eos has been expanding into new body care categories, through multiple new product launches that rapidly became top-sellers & consumer cult-favorites, like our category top-selling, TikTok-viral Vanilla Cashmere body lotion. Responsibilities:
Fragrance Strategy & Innovation
- Identify emerging fragrance trends, ingredients, and cultural moments to inspire the product pipeline.
- Drive innovation through new scent concepts, fragrance technologies, and unique olfactive signatures.
- Partner with fragrance house counterparts to organize and execute trend & category specific trend presentations.
Fragrance Development & Evaluation
- Collaborate with manager to craft fragrance briefs rooted in brand DNA, category needs, and consumer insights.
- Manage submissions, evaluate mods, aggregate Product Marketing feedback and guide fragrance houses toward best-in-class execution.
- Review fragrance strategy and submissions with manager to gather feedback, align on approach, and prepare for leadership approval.
- Oversee stability, safety, compatibility, and regulatory requirements to ensure formulas meet top standards.
- Partner with manager to develop a comprehensive fragrance library that accelerates speed-to-market for new product launches.
- Lead modification work to translate fragrances through multiple formula bases, protecting olfactive character and fragrance performance in use.
- Issue approvals / deviations with evaluation of first production.
- Drive stability / regulatory-driven reworks
- Conduct competitive benchmarking and maintain a strong pulse on the fast-moving body care and fragrance market.
Project Management
- Own fragrance development timelines from concept through final lock.
- Track all fragrance submissions, testing stages, and final approvals across multiple simultaneous launches.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Marketing, or a related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in product and fragrance development within the beauty or personal care industry.
- Proven track record of launching successful fragrances, from concept to market.
- In-depth knowledge of fragrance & flavor creation, formula & ingredient trends, and global regulatory compliance.
- Strategic Vision: Ability to identify market opportunities and translate them into innovative fragrance strategies.
- Creative Innovation: Demonstrates creativity, with a keen sense of emerging beauty and fragrance trends.
- Project Management: Exceptional skills in managing timelines, budgets, and cross-functional teams to meet deadlines.
- Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of product formulation, sensory evaluation, and fragrance composition.
- Collaboration: Skilled at building partnerships with internal teams and external vendors to deliver high-quality results.
- Consumer-Centric Mindset: Strong ability to align product offerings with consumer needs and preferences.
- Problem-Solving: Adept at addressing challenges with effective, forward-thinking solutions.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to present ideas and strategies clearly.
- Hybrid schedule – requiring travel to New Jersey R&D lab, 1 day in the New York office and ability to travel to 3rd party CM line trials as needed. *typical week, but may vary based on company needs
