As a Fiber Optical Splicer, This role ensures the rapid restoration of network services and supports ongoing operations in high-availability environments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional technical competency, and situational awareness in live network environments. Deep knowledge of fiber types, connector standards (LC, SC, MPO, MTP), and splice protection methods. Experience with both single-mode (OS1/OS2) and multi-mode (OM3/OM4/OM5) fibers and familiarity with high-count and ribbon fiber systems (864 , 1728 , etc.) and mass fusion techniques.

Key Responsibilities
- Splicing & Installation: Perform fusion or mechanical splicing of fiber optic cables (single-mode, multi-mode, ribbon) in various environments, including aerial, underground, and indoor locations.
- Testing & Troubleshooting: Utilize equipment such as Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDR), power meters, and visual fault locators to test continuity, identify fiber attenuation, and locate faults
- Fiber Preparation: Prepare cable ends, strip, clean, and cleave fiber strands, and organize fibers within splice trays and enclosures.
- Technical Documentation: Read and interpret fiber splicing diagrams, schematics, and engineering blueprints.
- Maintenance & Repair: Repair broken cables, perform cutovers, and maintain live circuits during network upgrades.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere to safety procedures, such as traffic control and confined space entry, and maintain a clean work area.
- Experience: Previous experience with fusion splicing equipment is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of fiber optic color codes, fiber handling, and testing procedures.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders/poles, and work in confined spaces or in varied weather conditions.
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required; technical certifications are a plus.
Work Environment
- This is a field-based role that often requires working outdoors, including in trenches or on utility poles.
- ****Overtime and emergency on-call shifts (nights/weekends) are common for troubleshooting.
