OVERVIEW
The Director of Public Relations reports to the EVP of Marketing & Communications and serves as a strategic leader responsible for amplifying and protecting the brand’s visibility and reputation. The primary goals of this position are to elevate brand visibility and credibility through proactive media relations, align PR strategies with the broader company goals to support business growth and strengthen trust and reinforce positive brand reputation across all audiences through timely and strategic communications.

RESPONSIBILITES
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Develop and lead a comprehensive external communication strategy aligned with overall business goals.
• Maximize the value of our PR agency partner through relationship building, proactive planning and results-oriented execution.
• Collaborate with our PR agency to create and implement successful PR strategies that support our growth, including effective issues management, crisis communication plans and rapid-response protocols.

• Monitor media coverage and brand sentiment to identify risks and opportunities; manage ongoing reputation efforts through proactive and reactive communications across media and digital platforms.
• Partner with the Director of Social Media to ensure alignment across channels and serve as a liaison for mitigating potential conflicts on social platforms.
• Partner with our PR agency and serve as the main contact for coordinating media requests, speaking engagements, award submissions and community outreach.
• Regularly monitor market trends and industry trends as well as the competitive set to inform communications.
• Review and oversee the development of press materials, including fact sheets, briefing sheets, press releases, media alerts and talking points.
• Manage the company’s speakers’ bureau and build and evolve processes for proactive brand storytelling.
• Collaborate with cross-functional departments, including Operations, Fitness, G-Fit, Risk & Asset Protection and Growth & Planning to promote happenings, share news and updates with target audiences and craft messaging aligned with our brand tone and voice.
• Actively manage vendor partners providing PR tools and platforms.
• Oversee and manage the PR agency budget and ROI analysis.
• Contribute monthly, quarterly and annual reporting on PR efforts.
• Foster an environment of ongoing learning and professional development among team members in the Marketing Department.
• This role may have 1 direct report.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

We’re looking for someone who:

• Holds a bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, communications or a related field. (Required)
• Proficient in AP Style and experience working with the media. (Required)
• Has 10 years related work experience.
• Has experience in the fitness industry or a strong interest in health and fitness.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and strategic thinking.
• Demonstrates exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels with a proven track record of success in PR.
• Holds experience with corporate reputation, brand management and protection through integrated communications programs.
• Has the ability to build strong relationships and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, growing environment.
• Is self-motivated but can work independently or collaboratively with teams to lead projects from inception to completion while providing updates to leadership.
• Has experience working with remote and in-person team members, and regularly interacting with colleagues, leadership, vendors and partners in a professional and empathetic manner.
• Is proficient in MS Office skills, specifically Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Brings a great sense of humor, upbeat attitude and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
