What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bridge Inspector position at EOS ENGINEERING LLC?
This is advanced level technical work supporting engineers in functional areas of bridge and roadway construction inspection, materials sampling, inspection and testing. The bridge inspector supports engineers in management of construction activities on large complex bridge projects. Work usually involves a significant amount of decision making and use of judgment and may include providing work directions to others.Employee may function as lead project inspector conducting independent complex inspections and supervising lower-level inspectors performing routine to moderately complex inspections of bridge and roadway construction processes and materials to assure compliance with the construction contract. Employee may perform contract administrative duties such as field measurements of pay items as well as other Department required documentation. Work may include participating in Concepts Meetings, Field Plan Reviews (Preliminary and/or Final), CPM schedule reviews, project close-out, and other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated knowledge of specifications and standards, acceptable construction practices, materials, methods and equipment used in bridge/highway construction and engineering. Advanced knowledge of mathematical functions, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry related to highway/transportation engineering. Ability to read and comprehend bridge plans, Bridge Foundation Investigation reports, Design-Builder’s layouts, and all other documents associated with the project. Ability to read, comprehend, and produce test pile and driving pile data. Licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with Georgia Law.Minimum Training and Experience Requirements: High School Diploma or GED and five (5) years of progressive transportation technician experience as an employee or consultant for a State Highway Agency; or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience. Three (3) years of construction experience on at least 3 Bridge Joint Repair, Bridge Joint Sealant, and Two-Part Epoxy Polymer Overlay Bridge Deck projects within the last five (5) years.Certification - NACE International (NACE) Coating Inspector Program (CIP) Level III and (3) three years of bridge coating inspection experience after certification. Minimum of three years (3) of construction experience on at least (3) three bridge projects within the last (5) years. Experience includes the following: Bridge Deck Repair, Bridge Joint Repair, Joint Seal Installations, and Two-Part Epoxy Polymer Overlay construction.Certifications:Degreed Employee:GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification. Non-Degreed Employee:Passing scores on GDOT’s Engineering Skills Development tests – Group 1 (Basic Highway Plan Reading, Basic Construction Surveying, and Basic Highway Math). 2) Passing scores on GDOT’s Engineering Skills Development tests – Group 2 (Asphalt Paving, Base Course Inspection, Excavation and Embankment, and Erosion Control). 3) Passing scores on GDOT’s Engineering Skills Development tests – Group 3 (Bridge and Structures Inspection and PortlandConcrete Paving Inspection). 4) GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification.Certifications from other agencies or states may possibly be substituted.
