Overall Summary:
The Product Launch Team Manager will lead our cross-functional launch execution team, including NPI system tool owners and launch coordinators. You’ll be the central force driving seamless transitions from product development to full-scale manufacturing of battery and energy storage technologies. This role requires exceptional coordination skills, technical know-how, and a passion for building scalable systems that enable flawless new product introductions (NPI).
You’ll be the launch champion ensuring innovative energy products become reality—on time, on budget, and built to last. In this fast-paced role, you’ll shape how groundbreaking technologies move from concept to execution and drive operational excellence in every phase.
Location: Hybrid in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania or Edison, New Jersey strongly preferred. Open to remote.
️ Key Responsibilities
Launch Team Leadership
- Direct a team of launch coordinators and NPI system tool owners, providing guidance, coaching, and performance oversight
- Align launch efforts across design, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality engineering teams
Program & Process Oversight
- Oversee NPI timelines, deliverables, and gate reviews from early development through production ramp-up
- Ensure launch readiness by coordinating tools, documentation, line validation, and supplier enablement
System Tool Ownership Coordination
- Manage integration and usage of critical NPI systems: ERP, PLM, MES, PDM, and quality tracking tools
- Collaborate with tool owners to define data structure, workflows, and reporting metrics for launch execution
Operational Readiness
- Drive process validation (PFMEA, control plans, work instructions) and ensure robust manufacturing handoff
- Lead risk identification, mitigation planning, and issue escalation for launch-phase challenges
Continuous Improvement & Standardization
- Capture lessons learned and lead implementation of standardized launch practices across programs
- Promote scalable, repeatable systems that support growing production and product complexity
Stakeholder Communication & Reporting
- Deliver high-level status updates, risk assessments, and launch scorecards to executive leadership
- Foster transparent communication between development teams and factory operations
Education/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Program Management, Operations, or related field
- Seven (7 ) or more years experience in product development, launch, NPI, or operations within a high-tech manufacturing environment
- Relevant certification(s) such as PMP preferred.
- Agile/Scrum experience and/or certifications preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or APQP tools
- Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and owning launch execution frameworks
- Expertise in battery systems, ESS, automotive, electronics, or similarly complex technologies
- Experience managing pilot builds and full production scale-ups
- Strong understanding of ERP/PLM/PDM/MES systems and their role in product lifecycle management
- Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills
Working Conditions:
Office Environment – must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figure; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. May be required to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
