Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is a strategic and hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing a team of manufacturing, electrical, mechanical and industrial engineers, engineering assistants and technicians. This team’s primary responsibilities include the sustaining and life cycle management of automation equipment, production tools, machines and other related equipment used in the manufacturing processes associated with EOS products and subassemblies. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise, process rigor in the manufacturing environment, with strong leadership and project management capabilities to drive continuous improvement, ensure system reliability, and support operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of manufacturing engineers, engineering assistants and technicians
- Foster a collaborative and innovative engineering culture.
- Conduct performance evaluations, set team goals, and support professional development.
- Establish metrics to monitor team and equipment performance and establish a standard continuous improvement approach
Technical Oversight
- Provide expert guidance on engineering methods, problem solving and machine and automation improvements
- Ensure standardization and documentation of equipment
- Oversee the integration of new automation technologies and upgrades to existing systems.
Project & Operations Management
- Manage automation projects from concept through implementation and commissioning.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, production, maintenance, IT, and external vendors.
- Ensure timely delivery of projects within scope and budget.
Support & Troubleshooting
- Lead root cause analysis and resolution of complex process issues
- Support production teams with real-time troubleshooting and system optimization.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
Technical Knowledge
- Understanding of PLC controls. (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi).
- Robotics and End-of-arm-tooling design and development
- Understanding of machine safety systems, sensors, and actuators.
Leadership & Communication
- Proven ability to lead and develop engineering teams.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable plans.
- Ability to grow a team’s capabilities, competencies and ways of working
- Translate reactive work into preventative measures using a continuous improvement mindset.
- Teach the team data driven decision making
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for process, automation and electro-mechanical equipment.
- Experience with root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).
Project Management
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with competing priorities.
- Experience with project planning tools and methodologies.
- PMP certification is a plus.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, industrial engineering, or related field
- 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments preferred.
- Familiarity with Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing technologies is a plus.
- Continuous improvement background preferred
- Multi-site and multi-product line environment desired
