JOB SUMMARY:
Enzymedica, a worldwide leader in the enzyme supplement industry, is seeking a Laboratory Manager specifically with Dietary Supplement / CPG lab experience. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the laboratory, ensuring that all activities are conducted in accordance with safety regulations, quality standards, and operational procedures. The Lab Manager will supervise laboratory staff, manage resources, and coordinate with other departments to support research and development activities. in accordance with GLP regulations. Experience with equipment like Spectrophotometers, pipettes, microscopy, scales/balances, is required. Successfully managing and motivating others is also a key component to this position.
REQUIRED / DESIRED SKILLS:
- At least five years’ experience in a science laboratory.
- Must be familiar with microbiological testing Neogen system, FCC enzyme assay, viscometry, titration, calibration and assay validation.
- Experience with equipment like Spectrophotometers, pipettes, microscopy, scales/balances.
- Experience with Dietary Supplements.
- Experience in a CPG lab environment.
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Biology, or another related field preferred.
- Experience with equipment like Spectrophotometers, pipettes, microscopy, scales/balances, is required.
- Comfortable in a clean environment and wearing PPE gear.
- Experience managing and motivating others.
- Ability to become GMP certified within a timeframe established by the VP, Scientific Affairs.
- Must have basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of all laboratory equipment used for microbial analysis, enzyme assays and wet chemistry.
- Basic understanding of biochemistry (enzymes).
- Knowledge of applied mathematics for laboratory sciences.
- Demonstrated ability to be an individual contributor or work in team-based environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (other duties as required):
- The Lab Manager lead the laboratory team while also actively participating in laboratory work.
- Managing daily laboratory activities, including scheduling, and supervising both lab staff and experiments execution, and ensuring that lab operations are conducted with high standards of accuracy and consistency.
- Manage, train, and evaluate laboratory personnel. onboarding, and conducting performance reviews and providing feedback to help staff grow and improve.
- Control laboratory expenditures including ensure cost-effective operations and procurement of supplies and equipment.
- Ensure all lab work adheres to regulatory standards and internal quality requirements. Conduct regular audits and inspections to verify compliance and address any issues.
- Perform risk assessments and develop and enforce safety protocols to protect lab personnel and ensure a safe working environment.
- Develop and implement laboratory protocols and procedures to ensure efficient and accurate testing.
- Perform quality control for product release, including microbial testing, enzyme assays and other procedures as needed, based on FCC, USP, FDA-BAM methods.
- Developpe / or implement new assays as needed.
- Use good documentation practices to maintain accurate records for internal and external use.
- Keep laboratory inventory up to date by ordering lab supplies as needed.
- Consult with VP, Scientific Affairs to determine if equipment purchases are needed.
- Stay up to date on company operations and laboratory policies and procedures.
- Know, adhere, and stay up to date on standards of quality.
- Comply and stay up to date with cGMP regulations pertaining to laboratory operations.
- Implement and enforce laboratory policies to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations.
- Write, review and revise laboratory SOPs.
- Manage documents and forms associated with SOPs.
- Work with quality assurance to investigate out of specification results.
- Adhere to all Enzymedica, Inc. policies, procedures, safety rules and regulations.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality control standards, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Adhere to all Enzymedica, Inc. policies, procedures, safety rules & Regulations.
- Participate in Performance Improvement and safety initiatives, including job related and annual training(s), i.e., cGMP, SQF.
Supports Good Manufacturing Principles (cGMP) and Global Food Safety Initiatives (GFSI) certification by the following (but not limited too):
- Adherence to cGMP and Safe Quality Food (SQF) practices, standard operating methods, and legal regulations to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Document all production efforts in appropriate logs, forms, reports, and databases.
- Ensure the required quality and safety standards are achieved and maintained with respect to cGMP and SQF operating procedures, all documentation, area housekeeping, production suites, and compliance with the relevant regulatory and legislative requirements.
- Working and partnering with other groups for requirements relating to quality systems, safety, equipment maintenance, and warehousing for cGMP and SQF initiatives.
- Maintains appropriate employee hygiene and cleanliness.
