What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pizzeria Manager position at Enzo’s Pizzeria?
Position Overview
Enzo's Pizzeria is looking for a hands-on Pizzeria Manager to work side-by-side with the team inside the store. This is a full-time, in-store leadership role where you will cook, take orders, and manage staff while keeping food cost, labor cost, quality control, and customer satisfaction at the heart of every shift. If you love the heat of the kitchen and the energy of the front counter, this is the job for you.
Key Responsibilities - Daily In-Store Operations
- Jump on the pizza line to prep dough, sauce, and toppings, stretch and top pizzas, and fire them in the wood-fired oven.
- Work the front counter to greet guests, take orders, handle cash/POS, and pack to-go and delivery items.
- Oversee the entire shift: assign stations, monitor pace, and step in wherever needed (kitchen, counter, phones, or expo).
Food & Labor Cost Management
- Keep food cost in check by controlling portions, tracking waste, and rotating stock first-in-first-out.
- Manage labor cost by building smart schedules, cross-training crew, and adjusting staffing to match volume.
- Run quick end-of-day counts and prep lists to start the next shift right.
Quality Control
- Taste every pizza that leaves the oven for consistency in crust, sauce balance, and topping distribution.
- Check dough fermentation, ingredient freshness, and oven temperature throughout the shift.
- Train staff on Enzo’s exact recipes and techniques; correct mistakes on the spot.
Customer Satisfaction
- Deliver fast, friendly service with a smile—whether at the counter, on the phone, or during table visits.
- Resolve any guest issues immediately with a free slice, remake, or kind word.
- Encourage the team to create memorable moments that turn first-timers into regulars.
Staff Leadership
- Hire, train, and schedule the crew (cooks, counter staff, delivery drivers).
- Hold short pre-shift huddles and give real-time coaching.
- Build a tight-knit, respectful team that hustles together and has fun doing it.
Store Standards & Safety
- Open and close the pizzeria; count cash, secure the safe, and lock up.
- Keep the kitchen and dining room spotless and organized.
- Follow all health codes and food-safety rules (HACCP); maintain equipment in top shape.
Qualifications
- 2 years working in a pizzeria or fast-casual restaurant; hands-on pizza-making experience required.
- Comfortable cooking on the line and running the front counter during peak hours.
- Proven ability to keep food cost and labor cost under control in a busy environment.
- Natural leader who motivates by example and keeps calm under pressure.
- Available nights, weekends, and holidays; able to stand for full shifts and lift 50 lbs (dough bags, cases).
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive hourly pay tips & bonus program.
- Monthly bonuses tied to food cost, labor, quality control, and customer satisfaction.
