Scope of Job:
The qualified candidate will provide a variety of transportation skills for Envoy Logistics, by assisting with the rate quoting, load planning and freight management. This individual will answer incoming calls when necessary. The associate will make outgoing calls to businesses to determine shipping expectations and calls to trucking companies to build relationships and verify their desired lanes. The ultimate outcome of these relationships will be to meet or exceed the expected revenue goals. Thus, the associate will achieve the goals set forth by Envoy Logistics.

Qualification Required by This Position
Desired Knowledge & Training
- An associate degree or equivalent experience within the transportation industry (Truckload, LTL, Rail)
- Computer Experience (Basic, Microsoft Word, MS Excel, Internet)
- Previous office experience, involving telephone functions, typing & computer, calculator, fax machine and customer service
- Has a professional appearance and manner suitable to greet the public
- Excellent telephone etiquette and ability to handle multi-line system
- Is self-motivated and has proven themselves to be disciplined to work with minimal supervision
- Familiarity with geography, map reading, mileages and how cities relate to one another
- Knowledge of equipment desired or necessary in transportation (i.e. pallets, tarps, flatbeds, etc.)
- Able to sell transportation services to both customers and carriers
- Able to understand carrier rates and lanes of service

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Solution Specialist Skills:
- Find the most efficient and economical mode of transportation that will meet customers’ expectations.
- Using available resources to obtain rate quotes from carrier base (TL & LTL)
- Call on qualified customers to secure freight and maintain relationships with current customers
- Call on trucking companies to secure rate and trucks
- Building long-term relationships with carriers
- Negotiate carrier base to move freight at a desired cost.
- Prioritize loads based on truck availability and delivery dates
- Entering load into the TMS
- Sending Rate Confirmation sheet to carrier with load information
- Evaluate carrier transit times to meet time critical freight
- Communicating to all parties to resolve problems with scheduling, delays, etc…
- Performance of the office or non-manual work directly related to management policies or general business
- Exercises discretion and independent judgment
- Regularly and directly assists management hired in an executive or administrative capacity
- Execute special assignments, work along specialized or technical lines requiring special training, experience or knowledge
- Does not devote more than 20% of his or her hours worked in the workweek to activities which are not directly and closely related to the performance of the work described above.
