Summary:

The IT Field Support Technician is a hands-on, task-driven role responsible for executing day-to-day technical work at client sites and in the field. This position focuses heavily on user account lifecycle management, PC hardware deployments, and onsite end-user support to ensure clients can work securely and efficiently.

This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to follow standardized procedures and checklists. The Field Support Technician works from defined tasks and tickets, completes work efficiently, documents clearly, and escalates issues when necessary. In-person, desktop-level support and physical hardware handling are core parts of this role.

Above all, this role represents Envizion IT onsite and must consistently demonstrate excellent customer service, professionalism, and care for the people we serve.

Primary Responsibilities (Field-Focused)

Task Execution & Field Support

  • Complete assigned, ticket-driven tasks efficiently and accurately
  • Perform onsite support at client locations, including deskside and walk-up support
  • Execute End User hardware deployments, replacements, refreshes, and upgrades such as PCs, Printers, Phones.
  • Stage, image, configure, and deploy laptops and desktops according to standards
  • Perform physical installation of workstations, monitors, docks, peripherals, and cabling
  • Troubleshoot basic hardware, OS, and application issues in the field

User Account & Access Management

  • Execute user lifecycle tasks, including:
  • New user creation
  • Terminations and access removal
  • Role changes and permission updates
  • Follow documented procedures for Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and other platforms
  • Ensure access changes are accurate, timely, and properly documented

Client Ownership & Communication

  • Own assigned tasks from start to completion
  • Gather required information before arriving onsite to complete work efficiently
  • Communicate clearly with end users, preferring voice or in-person conversations when possible
  • Provide updates through tickets and directly to users as work progresses
  • Escalate issues appropriately when outside scope or authority

Process & Documentation

  • Follow Envizion IT checklists, SOPs, and standards for all work
  • Complete detailed ticket notes describing:
  • Work performed
  • Equipment deployed
  • Accounts impacted
  • Maintain accurate hardware and asset documentation
  • Contribute to knowledge base updates for repeatable field tasks

Performance Expectations

  • Meet billable time expectations in a fast-paced, task-driven environment
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace and vehicle (if assigned)
  • Handle physical job requirements, including lifting, carrying, and equipment setup
  • Be available for occasional work outside normal hours for deployments or urgent needs
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation

Continual Improvement

  • Identify patterns in repeat tasks that could be streamlined
  • Suggest improvements to deployment processes, checklists, or documentation
  • Take ownership in keeping procedures current and effective

Education, Training, and Experience

  • 2–3 years of experience in a field technician, deskside, or hands-on IT support role
  • Experience with:
  • PC hardware deployment and refresh cycles
  • Microsoft 365 user administration
  • Desktop operating systems (Windows primarily)
  • Certifications preferred (not required):
  • CompTIA A / Network
  • Microsoft certifications
  • HDI

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Strong working knowledge of computer hardware and peripherals
  • Comfortable following task lists and executing repeatable work accurately
  • Working knowledge of basic troubleshooting tools and techniques
  • Strong documentation and note-taking habits
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks with minimal supervision
  • Valid Michigan driver’s license may be required
  • Ability to lift and move typical IT equipment (laptops, monitors, PCs)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
