Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and technically proficient Technical Sales Representative to join our team. The ideal candidate will combine strong sales acumen with a deep understanding of livestock equipment and agricultural practices. This role involves building and maintaining client relationships, providing technical expertise, and driving sales of our innovative livestock equipment solutions to farmers, ranchers, and agricultural businesses.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Engagement: Identify and develop relationships with prospective and existing clients, including livestock producers, farm managers, and agricultural cooperatives.
- Technical Consultation: Provide expert advice on the selection, installation, and maintenance of livestock equipment, tailoring solutions to meet client-specific needs.
- Sales Execution: Develop and present compelling sales proposals, conduct product demonstrations, and negotiate contracts to close deals.
- Market Analysis: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor products, and customer needs to identify new sales opportunities.
- Customer Support: Offer post-sale support, including troubleshooting, training clients on equipment use, and coordinating with technical support teams to resolve issues.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing, product development, and technical support teams to ensure customer satisfaction and product alignment with market demands.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, and pipeline status using CRM software.
- Travel: Attend industry trade shows, conferences, and client visits as needed (approximately 30-50% travel).
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Agricultural Engineering, Business, or a related field. Equivalent experience in the livestock or agricultural equipment industry may be considered.
- Experience:
- 2 years of sales experience, preferably in agricultural equipment, livestock systems, or a related technical field.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with livestock equipment such as automated feeding systems, ventilation systems, milking parlors, or barn management technologies.
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build trust with clients.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear, customer-friendly manner.
- Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Self-motivated with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Certifications: Valid driver’s license required; additional certifications in agricultural technology or sales are a plus.
- Other: Willingness to travel and work flexible hours to accommodate client schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Established network within the livestock or agricultural industry.
- Experience with precision agriculture technologies or IoT-enabled equipment.
- Bilingual skills (e.g., Spanish) are an asset in serving diverse client bases.
