Industrial Cleaning Technician

A Industrial Technician I perform various tasks for Field and Industrial service operations, including tank cleaning, manual remediation services, and waste collection/handling. Daily work involves confined space entry into maintenance holes, tanks, and other restricted areas for cleaning, oil spill cleanup, drum handling, decontamination, sweeping, shoveling, high pressure washing, and other remedial activities. This position works closely with Project Managers, Drivers, Account Managers, and Customers in a supporting role.

Essential Functions

• Available to respond to emergency/time-critical incidents, chemical releases, natural disasters, derailments, transloading activities, transformer leaks, and various spills impacted by soil or water.
• Perform physical labor associated with cleanup activities, sample collection, waste removal & other remediation services.
• Safely handle, and packaging, hazardous materials/waste; includes loading/unloading and ensuring all piece/drum counts match all associated shipping documents
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects electronically through Geotab™ & WhipAround™; also communicate issues with Dispatch and Supervisor
• Assist in the setup, tear down & decontamination of equipment.
• Follow applicable safety rules regulations, guidelines, policies and site-specific safety plans when performing cleanup activities and donning protective gear.
• Load/Unload equipment from vehicles, trailers, & watercraft
• Use small hand tools, squeegees, shovels & brooms as well as wipes, absorbent boom & pads to contain & remediate impacted soils & waters.
• Operate routinely used power & pneumatic tools and equipment to include, but not limited to, air compressors, saws, drills, grinders, jackhammers, rivet busters, air scrapers & pumps
• Actively participate in departmental performance initiatives to improve Team Member experience and cleanliness metrics (5S)
• Regularly participate in communication meetings & Job Hazard Analysis (JHA with assigned teams or complete required JHA when working individually
• Required to wear proper PPE including Flame Resistant (FR) uniform, hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots and leather gloves at minimum; respirator and protective clothing as instructed for designated tasks
• Maintain supplies & equipment by properly stocking/restocking in neat, orderly fashion
• Warehouse maintenance, stock supplies, building & grounds maintenance
• Complete daily timesheet, JHA’s, spill reports, labels & manifests for all jobs and submit daily to Operations Team.
• Physically able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when necessary and lift > 50lbs routinely
• Training to work on basic planned projects for vac trucks air movers, water blasting, jet machines, and hotsys, basic operations training. Performs duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
• Ability to work on planned projects and respond to basic ERs (non haz spills, weekend call in projects, etc.), and basic operations training. Performs duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
• Continue to build on training and experience learned as an Apprentice Industrial Technician
• Ability to work on more complex jobs; specialized/client-specific training including lockout tagout, confined space entry, PPE selection, chemical compatibility; some equipment operating experience including basic operation of jet machines, hotsys, vac trucks and water blasters; more advanced operations training including 3-D head, 2-D head, cleaning of tanks, automated tube and line jetting, more complex vac truck/air mover projects
• Perform other duties as assigned

Working Conditions

• Timely and dependable attendance required.
• Must be flexible to work outside normal business hours as needed.
• Must be prepared to work flexible or extended hours in inclement weather conditions, including heat, cold, & humidity
• Willingness to enter confined spaces, work from heights & occasionally perform tasks from boats.
• Able to work as part of a team and independently, under minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of verifiable experience in Industrial cleaning (water blasting and vac truck/ air mover work) with EnviroServe or at another company
• Valid Driver’s License
• Pass a Pre-Employment Physical, Drug Screen and Alcohol testing
• Pass a Pre-Employment Background Screening
• Pass the Company's Auto Insurance Qualifiers
• Pass the OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour training
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Able to read, write, and understand the English language, and able to follow verbal and written instructions
• Ability to work a rotating shift, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
