Construction Observation/Inspector

Position Summary

ERI has a career opportunity for an experienced observer/inspector to provide construction inspection services in the Civil Engineering/Environmental Infrastructure field. The individual is expected to ensure contractor compliance with project plans and specifications, as well as assist the Resident Engineer in performing project administration duties.

Key Responsibilities

· Perform construction inspection services for a variety of projects including paving, milling and reconstruction of roads, improvements and upgrades to water/wastewater treatment plants and underground utilities (water, sanitary, and stormwater), as well as recreational facilities, parks and trails.

· Perform basic field testing of materials.

· Check and verify contractor quantities

· Prepare daily inspection reports.

· Communicate with Resident Engineer regarding project status.

· Communicate effectively and efficiently with engineers, contractors and clients.

· Communicate effectively and efficiently with affected business owners and residential property owners on behalf of the client and ERI.

Qualifications

· NICET certified in Highway Transportation preferred but not required.

· Excellent written and electronic reporting and oral communication skills.

· Excellent decision-making skills.

· Able to work autonomously.

· Ability to work in the field and perform some physical activities such as walking over uneven terrain and removing manhole lids/inlet grates.

· Must have a valid Driver’s License.

· Knowledgeable in New Jersey construction techniques and practices.

Compensation

Anticipated base salary: $70,000–$90,000. Actual compensation is based on experience, education, licensure, certifications, skills, and other job-related factors. This is a non-exempt position and is eligible for overtime in accordance with applicable law.
