What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inside Sales Assistant position at Environmental Office Solutions?
Job Title: Inside Sales Assistant
Reports to: Vice President, Sales and Purchasing
Position Summary
The Inside Sales Assistant is the front end of our sales engine. This person spends the majority of the day on the phone — cold calling prospects, following up on inbound marketing leads, and qualifying interest — so that our Inside Sales Representatives spend their time in real-selling conversations rather than hunting for them.
Success in this role is measured in activity and in qualified opportunities handed off. It is a high-volume, high-repetition job that suits someone competitive, coachable, and comfortable hearing "no" on the way to a "yes." It is also the most direct path we have into a full Inside Sales Representative seat.
Key Responsibilities
- Make outbound calls to prospects from assigned target lists, dormant accounts, and inbound inquiries.
- Open conversations cold: introduce the company, uncover need, and determine fit against our qualification criteria.
- Qualify leads on authority, need, and timing, and document findings clearly in the CRM.
- Set qualified appointments and callbacks on Inside Sales Representatives' calendars and confirm them in advance to limit no-shows.
- Execute multi-touch outreach sequences — calls, voicemails and emails — and work each lead through the agreed cadence before marking it closed.
- Research prospects and accounts before calling: company size, industry, current vendor, likely pain points, and the right person to reach.
- Build and maintain clean prospect lists from purchased data, web research, trade associations, event lists, and referrals.
- Maintain accurate, current records in ACT — every call logged, every disposition coded, every next step scheduled.
- Hand off opportunities to Inside Sales Representatives with complete context and follow up on anything that stalls.
- Nurture long-cycle and "not right now" prospects with scheduled re-engagement so nothing goes cold permanently.
- Report daily and weekly on call volume, connect rate, meetings set, and pipeline contribution.
- Provide the sales and marketing teams with feedback from the field on objections, messaging, and list quality.
Performance Expectations (First 12 Months)
Metric Target
- Outbound dials per day 60-100
- Meaningful conversations per day 8-12
- Qualified calls scheduled per week 8-10
- Show rate on scheduled calls 70%
- CRM data accuracy / same-day logging 100%
Ramp: [30 days to full call volume; targets apply from day 60.]
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree a plus.
- 1 year in a phone-based role — sales, telemarketing, collections, customer service, fundraising, or similar. Strong candidates without direct experience but with clear drive will be considered.
- Comfortable making cold calls and handling rejection without losing momentum.
- lear, confident, professional phone presence; strong listening skills.
- Solid written communication for email and CRM notes.
- Organized and self-directed — able to work a list and a calendar without daily supervision.
- Basic proficiency with CRM, email, and Microsoft Office
Preferred
- Familiarity with recycling, printing products, ITAD terminology, or buyers.
- Track record of hitting activity-based quotas.
Attributes We're Looking For
Persistent. Curious about the prospect's business rather than scripted. Coachable — takes call feedback and applies it the same day. Competitive with themselves on the numbers. Honest in the CRM, even when the numbers aren't flattering.
What We Offer
