Environmental Monitor Service, Inc. (EMS) is seeking a motivated Field Service Technician to support field service operations, production activities, and in-house service functions. This position involves installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, customer support, and regulatory testing services for EMS equipment at both customer locations and our facility.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently, traveling as needed, working at elevated heights, and maintaining accurate documentation and customer service records. Previous instrumentation experience is beneficial; however, EMS is willing to train the right candidate.
The successful candidate will be customer-focused, adaptable, mechanically inclined, and capable of troubleshooting equipment issues while providing professional on-site support in both routine and emergency service situations. The individual must be able to adapt to changing priorities, varying field environments, and evolving customer needs while maintaining a high level of service and professionalism.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform field service, installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, calibration, repair, and support of EMS equipment at customer locations
- Assist with in-house service, testing, production support, assembly, and equipment preparation
- Travel to customer locations using provided vehicles and commercial transportation, including airlines, rail services, and rental vehicles as required
- Perform routine scheduled service visits, quarterly customer maintenance, equipment audits, and emergency service calls
- Support customers through troubleshooting, technical assistance, and professional on-site service
- Learn and become proficient in performing EPA-required testing procedures and preparing reports in accordance with EMS procedures and instructions
- Coordinate and maintain quarterly customer service schedules
- Make travel arrangements and coordinate site access requirements for service visits
- Maintain service records, reports, customer files, and related documentation
- Prepare accurate field reports and communicate findings to customers and management
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support company operations
Travel Requirements
- Most travel consists of local or regional day trips
- Some overnight travel will be required
- The majority of travel is planned with advance notice
- Candidate must be available for occasional emergency service calls requiring short-notice response and next-day on-site service when necessary
- Employee must be able to travel by commercial transportation, including airlines, rail services, rental vehicles, and other transportation methods required to support customer service operations
- Must be willing and able to travel as business needs require
Physical Requirements
- Ability to safely work in industrial environments
- Must be physically capable of climbing ladders, structures, and elevated platforms when required
- Willingness to work at heights and perform elevated work activities
- Position may require climbing industrial stacks up to 200 feet
- EMS will provide required safety equipment, including fall protection systems, harnesses, and related PPE
- Ability to lift, move, and handle equipment and materials weighing up to 75 pounds
- Ability to perform physically active work in the field and production environments
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and industrial environments when necessary

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous instrumentation, environmental monitoring, industrial equipment, field service, or technical experience
- Experience working in industrial facilities or regulatory environments
- Technical background in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, electronics, or environmental systems
- Experience in troubleshooting instrumentation, sensors, controls, or monitoring equipment
- Possession of a valid passport is beneficial for potential future travel requirements
