Technical Specialist II – Healthcare Compliance
Job Summary:
As a representative of EH amp;E's Healthcare team, a Technical Specialist II will operate in hospital and healthcare facilities. The Technical Specialist II is responsible for the successful execution of daily tasks at our client site(s), sometimes operating in teams or independently to accomplish various Environmental Health amp; Safety (EHS) or Compliance tasks. As a Technical Specialist II, you will have the guidance to accomplish assigned tasks ensuring the overall success of the client EHS amp; Compliance programs and develop your technical expertise.

- Conduct periodic inspections of clinical and support areas of the hospital and its associated facilities in conjunction with the Clinical Compliance department in order to evaluate compliance with federal, state, and local government regulations and agencies’ policies.
- Conduct follow-up on associated findings as needed.
- Participate in regular compliance activities, including gas cylinder and emergency equipment inspections (eyewashes and safety showers, respiratory protection)
- Assist in updating written materials regarding safety of the physical environment within the hospital and its associated facilities (e.g., Hazard Communication Plan, Respiratory Protection, gas cylinder storage, etc.).
- With assistance from team members, support regulatory compliance and scientific principles to support client needs around Joint Commission (JC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) amp; National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) requirements.
- Support and participate in Environment of Care (EC) meetings.
- Respond to occasional chemical, biological, and after-hours emergencies.
- Ensure compliance with hazardous chemical, biological, and drug waste disposal policies.
- Perform respiratory protection fit-testing, as needed.
- Other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications, Skills amp; Abilities:
- High School Diploma or GED Required.
- Bachelors degree in a related field (biology, microbiology, molecular biology, safety, industrial hygiene, chemistry, engineering or environmental science) preferred.
- 1 year of experience working in EHS, Healthcare Compliance or closely related field required.
- OSHA 24 hour HAZWOPER, DOT/RCRA highly preferred.
- Knowledge of JC, CMS, NFPA (99 and 101) preferred.
- Possess teamwork, analytical amp; organizational skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft suite of products – Word, Excel, Outlook amp; PowerPoint.
- Must be comfortable with occasional weekend work as needed amp; on-call emergency duties required.
- Business ownership thinking and entrepreneurial attitude/self-starter attitude preferred.
- Ability to be open and flexible to new project experiences.
- This role will require lifting items up to 20lbs from time to time.
- This role will sit, stand and move throughout a hospital campus.
- This role will work with computer programs consistently throughout the day.
Hourly Range: $32.83-$39.28
